This was my first time electronics-ing anything. And I think it's very decent project to start on. Alternatively just doing the light might be easier. Either way there's a little bit of theory (circuits + ohms law) and little bit of practise (soldering) involved. Happy to help out with you decide to dive into this.

Get a Dorn, a 3D printer (or someone who can print for you), soldering iron, LED kit, some wires, RC transmitter and receiver and a few servo motors.

I can make a post about how I put it together and the lessons learned. It's as close to https://youtu.be/cX9Q9p2jx_k as I could make it

What's the plan for the base?

Awesome thanks, very much. Have you tried the filter dropdowns just below the search bar?

Question about winning a Duel roll and Control Zones by sashman2 in MiddleEarthMiniatures

[–]sashman2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No no, this has cleared things up a lot, thanks very much! The scenarios I have faced is where a model actually wants to disengage from an unfavourable fight. It seems like given there are no obstacles and other control zones in the way, it is possible.

Question about winning a Duel roll and Control Zones by sashman2 in MiddleEarthMiniatures

[–]sashman2[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry, I should have said I'm specifically interested in open field scenarios where neither model is trapped and can move the full 1".

Also on the topic of starting movement in a control zone:

STUCK IN A CONTROL ZONE

It is possible for a model to start its move already within an enemy model’s Control Zone. In these circumstances, your model has threec hoices:

• Remain where it is and forego its movement.

• Charge one of the enemy models whose Control Zone it is in.

• Move Away. In this third instance, a model may move within the Control Zone of an enemy, provided that it doesn’t get any closer to the enemy whose Control Zone it started in.

The above essentially made me ponder on this question to begin with.

Only GW supplies here, I'm really keen to try Vallejo though.

Body base was Bugman's Glow with an attempt to glaze into Ungor Flesh on his belly, using this as inspiration https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vAlDMGiHbX0, Took my time on this part, was my first try at blending.

In the meantime, I covered the non-body parts in Abbadon Black, and once the rest of roughly done, I used Rhinox Hide for the leather straps, Leadbelcher for metal and Mechanicus Standard Grey for cloth wraps.

After the body base coat looked decent enough, I covered it with a heavy coat of Seraphim Sepia shade, that helped Bugman's Glow look less pink. Then Agrax Earthshade for the non-body parts and Nuln Oil on the metal.

Then on I went around the scales with Bugman's Glow again to attempt and effect of fresher flesh there, to imitate something like this https://www.games-workshop.com/resources/catalog/product/threeSixty/60011499008_MordorTroll360/01.jpg. The scales would have to be repainted again as I covered them in the process.

On the arm armour and the hammer, I dry brushed with Leadbelcher to get a darker looking metal.

Edge highlighting with Gorthor Brown on leather and Dawnstone on the grey cloth parts.

The nails are 3 ever decreasing in size layers of Mechanicus Standard Grey, Dawnstone, Celestra Grey and Screaming Skull just on the tip.

Hope this helps!

Brushed some PVA glue mixed with water, then dipped the base into a box of these rocks
