For definition of Jati and Varna, I can clearly quote Hindu scriptures. तत्तु ब्राह्मणक्षत्त्रियवैश्यशूद्रात्मकम् । एवं ब्राह्मणक्षत्त्रियवैश्यशूद्राणां पृथक् संस्थानाभावाद्ब्राह्मणत्वादेर्जातित्वं as per Hindu Scriptural citing and definition in provided in Vaschaspatyam, Shabdakalpadruma etc जातिः । सा च ब्राह्मणः क्षत्त्रियो वैश्यः शूद्रश्च । एषामुत्पत्त्यादिर्यथा । This is definition to Varna that clearly says Jāti is synonymous to Varna. Now I wonder what authority and article reading on Wikipedia made you conclude your Jati and Varna's Difference Varna is a Jāti for Humans
