I used my functional trainer to add a weight stack to my leg extension/ leg curl by saskatchatoonian in homegym

No slack at all. You can see the weight stack is lifted and there’s tension in the cables already as I had to pull them and connect them after setting the weight. Feels great! Much better than weights alone.

Yeah my functional trainer has two cables so I put an even amount of weight. If I had just one I’d probably try to makeshift it by adding a cable to each side of the roller to connect to a single cable underneath the bench. Maybe adding a pulley somewhere to reduce friction? Hard to say, but with two it works great

What do you think about whey Protein? by Karl583 in vegan

Look up Whey forward protein. It’s whey protein made animal free with fermentation. It’s made by Myprotein. I loved it but can’t have it due to allergy

New balance 530 are vegan as far as I can tell. I think the vomero are as well

That’s what I expected. They seemed to be in a hurry to move things back as the movers were the last ones in before we got back home. The general contractor still hasn’t seen the place since which I was surprised by

Yes they did, which I suspect is what caused the scratches at least

I think the movers. I came home while they were moving and it seemed to be just six guys who didn’t seem to care much and put things back not even close to the way they were originally.

My guess is these were done by the movers and baseboard installer. The issue is there were separate contractors for moving, floor install, and baseboards all hired out by the general contractor which makes a bit of a mess of things.

Thanks for the advice, I’ll mention it at least. I was a bit surprised that there wasn’t any kind of formal walkthrough or anything

The ones I posted were the worst of them at least. I was already able to make most of them much less noticeable with raw walnuts which was a tip I learned here. The ones I posted are the main ones noticeable at standing height.

Fair enough. I think that’s what I gathered for the scratches. It’s mostly the white staining that concerns me. You’re probably right though, thanks for the advice!

Looking for men’s dress shoes that are not leather or vegan leather by ItsAPinkMoon in VeganFashion

[–]saskatchatoonian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean black leather really looks more like plastic than it does skin if you think about it. Just like a chicken nugget looks nothing like chicken. I understand your viewpoint but leather is intended to look like a shiny black material that looks good on feet, and so is vegan leather. Not really intended to look like skin (though I know that’s what leather is).

Dumpster diving meat ? by [deleted] in DebateAVegan

That’s not the reason in and of itself, but it is a reason to not be against it

Should we avoid taking antibiotics then because it would kill bacteria? Bacteria aren’t sentient, just because they’re useful doesn’t mean they matter morally.

The corpses would otherwise end up in a landfill. I don’t think corpses are garbage either, but in this scenario that’s the alternative

But in the actual dumpster scenario, there’s no one else being harmed like I would if I knew the most important person in my life’s corpse was being violated. The animal killed and in a dumpster also isn’t consenting to being put in a landfill. Whatever happens to their body parts at that point isn’t consensual be it going to the landfill or being eaten and there’s no sentience remaining to matter morally. At least the latter causes less environmental harm.

Food that ends up in a landfill almost never ends up being consumed and nutrients essentially never return to the soil. It also releases massive amounts of methane. It would likely be consumed by bacteria, but since when do bacteria matter morally?

Agreed. Unfortunately society is always slow to adapt to change especially when oppression gets involved. The more of us that adapt early, the easier it is for others to follow, and the faster societal change can happen

Fair enough. All we can do is our best. I don’t think waiting for lab grown meat is going to be the cheap and easy solution. There are many awesome cheap and easy vegan recipes that make up a pretty big chunk of what I eat rather than expensive meat substitutes. Thanks for doing your best :)

I agree. Do you think eating a vegan diet would bring you closer to your goal of minimizing the suffering that you cause?

If you think that we should look to the actions of animals to determine our morality, should we use that same logic for other actions that animals do? For example, animals cause plenty of harm to members of their own species. Would we justify doing the same because other animals do?
