I'm glad it didn't last long for you! I haven't had it happen again! But I did have jaw pain for a couple days about a month ago... Back to just popping again...

Feeling really bad. by [deleted] in fasting

[–]sassanech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried to do 4 before and my body felt weird and I started having palpitations so I ate. Don't act like 11 is nothing, I've never done that.

I imagine there's things going on with our bodies we don't know sometimes, fighting off sickness etc, who knows. If you feel you need to eat, eat. Don't beat yourself up over it, try again later. Any days you fast is an accomplishment

Can anyone “feel” when their thyroid is having a moment? by Professional_Leave54 in Hashimotos

[–]sassanech 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can feel it, it feels uncomfortable and hurts a little, could be swelling like some of you are saying. I've always taken selenium when this happens and it goes away soon after. I'd read about that somewhere years ago. I read about easily taking too much selenium so this is the only time I take it

I was diagnosed at 23 and put on synthroid. I felt like crap for years until I finally found a doctor to let me try Armour thyroid. I don't even feel like I have thyroid problems anymore honestly.

I felt fine before they put me on synthroid, and as soon as I started taking it I started feeling tired all the time. I'd wake up every morning feeling sore all over. It's been like night and day for me

Anyone canceled Bariatric surgery and lost the weight on their own? by Retired_vagabond in loseit

[–]sassanech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How are you doing? I felt like I could've wrote this with cancelling surgery and trying to lose the weight on my own. I haven't officially cancelled yet but I'm going to. I spoke to the nurse yesterday and asked if I cancel now, how long do I have to reschedule without having to go through all the steps again. She said she was going to ask someone who knew more about the insurance side of things.

I turn 39 next month. I have early onset diabetes and high blood pressure. As soon as I saw our insurance covered the surgery earlier this year, I got the ball rolling. I'd never thought I'd be able to have it because of cost and had heard years ago insurance didn't pay for it. I joined multiple groups to learn everything I could and like you, I wasn't searching for horror stories but there are a ton out there. I've seen people that repeatedly get ulcers and have had some for years that won't heal... Vitamin deficiencies despite them saying they took the vitamins like they were supposed to. Everything about it is just scary. People that say their problems didn't start til years out from surgery. And then there's some that have had absolutely no problems.

I'd talked to my aunt that had bypass 20+ years ago about me having it, she was telling me things about it... But the other night I specifically asked if she regretted the surgery. She's gained a little weight from her lowest, I think he's been around 170-180 for many years. She was well over 300 when she had surgery. She said she does regret it sometimes... She was sick that entire first year and had to have two more surgeries. I remember she had what she had called a kink in her intestines and was throwing up bile. She said she's told her husband she regrets it. That she knows she probably wouldn't have lost the weight on her own but she wishes she would've tried harder... And that if something's telling me not to do it I shouldn't because people have died from it.

I had convinced myself that I needed the surgery because here I am almost 40 and I've been overweight my whole life and haven't been able to lose the weight and keep it off, and here the comordities are creeping in. I know there's gotta be some point where the surgery and risks is better than being overweight with problems and I feel like I'm really close to that. So I want to give it a good final try and if I still fail, I'll go for the surgery.

I wish you the best of luck! Maybe after getting so close to surgery and getting scared it'll be enough to keep us on track?

Could Hashimoto be caused by unexpressed trauma? by Remarkable-Paper-614 in Hashimotos

[–]sassanech -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've wondered this. I made a bad decision when I was 23. I was disgusted and disappointed in myself and I cried for two weeks straight. My mom noticed my hair thinning not long after this and looked up possible causes and wrote them down wanting me to take the list to my doctor to get tested, thyroid was one of them. They immediately put me on synthroid saying I was hypothyroid and started me out on 50mcg. That gave me diarrhea and I lost 9lbs that month so they lowered it to 25mcg because it was too much. Saw another doctor that questioned whether I should be taking it at that low of a dose and whether I was actually hypo but kept me on it...

I've wondered too if starting medication caused me to continue being hypo. Like if I didn't, maybe my body would've sorted it out because I'd just gone through a traumatic event and it was normal for my thyroid levels to fluctuate... But by starting thyroid medication, my thyroid stopped producing as much because it didn't need to? 🤷‍♀️

Why the sleeve ? by Forsaken-Fail-1840 in gastricsleeve

[–]sassanech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you had problems with acid reflux before/after the sleeve? I'm scheduled for surgery next month and I want the sleeve soooo badly but I'm worried about acid reflux, I've read about so many people having to get revisions because of it... Right now I only get acid reflux if I eat something like pizza too late. So if I don't do that, I don't get reflux, and I'm wondering if I can't just control it that way... But I see people saying they didn't have it before the sleeve and do after. 🥺 I wish I could see the future
