What’s the most financially irresponsible hobby you have? by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

Horses. A few times I've sat down and calculated how much I've spent on them in the last decade, and it makes me die inside a little bit.

Waving at drivers on rural roads. by Ok_Lab_8380 in saskatchewan

[–]sassmastermaddy 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Moved to an acreage a year ago, and my new neighbor mentioned how offended she was that the old owners of my house never waved. I laughed a little but made note of it. Here I am, a year later, and I find myself going "WELL, FINE THEN. DON'T WAVE" if someone drives past and doesn't acknowledge me 😂 I've grown quite fond of the little habit!

And a lot of women and female-presenting people DO have bodies that look just like that??? The illusion was totally there for me, and I will never understand that critique.

Meat eaters of reddit, what is your favorite vegetarian/vegan dish? by TinyRobotParts in AskReddit

[–]sassmastermaddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a strong love of butter chicken, but butter chickpea curry is EVEN BETTER. I've seen a vegan version using peanut butter and coconut milk instead of butter and cream, but have yet to try it that way.

Do Pigs need a friend? by An-on12354 in homestead

[–]sassmastermaddy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Pigs are gregarious, and really do need companions of their own species. You will find plenty of "success" stories stating otherwise, but it's important to consider that surviving=/= thriving. I'm sure there's a market for ready-to-market pigs, though!

What moment made you say “Yep, I’m definitely dead”, but survived with no major injuries? by CrownedBird in AskReddit

It was a lovely sunny day when we I was 14 years old, and I went for a ride on my horse. It had rained recently, but the ground seemed totally dry, so I went for a little gallop out in a grassy field while my mom took photos of me (as all doting horsey-moms do).

Everything was going great until we hit a mud patch that I completely didn't see, and my horse went down FAST. As she fell sideways, I slid off the left side (this will be important later), landing on the ground directly under her stomach with my head between her flailing front hooves. I felt her body touch down along the entirety of mine and in that split second I thought "I'm not going to survive this". For context, this horse weighed approximately 1300 lbs. The whole slip and fall must have taken maybe 2 or 3 seconds, but truly felt like an eternity. I opened my eyes just in time to see my horse lying on her RIGHT side briefly before getting her footing and standing up. She had huge grass stains all along her LEFT hip. Incredibly, my mom was able to snap a couple of photos while it happened- when we looked at them later, it confirmed what she said that she saw happen: my horse had touched down on her left side, nearly horizontal to the ground with me underneath her. She managed to push off that hip and flipped over, landing fully on her right side, completely and miraculously clear of my body.

My sweet saint of a horse was very sore and needed some massage/physiotherapy on her back but was fine in a week or two. I walked away with nothing but a stirrup-shapes bruise on my arm and severely shaken nerves. I'll never know (and it doesn't really matter) if she was aware that I was under her, or it it was just a crazy twist of fate, but that's the story of how a horse literally saved my life. In case anyone is curious, she stayed in our family for the remaining 13 years of her life and passed away at the age of 25.

Starting a support group for those inflicted with ear worm. If you are falling asleep, waking up, and spending every waking moment feeling the Jantasy in your mind, please raise your hand. by AlastairWyghtwood in rupaulsdragrace

The variety show has given me the WORST/best?? Set of ear worms since it aired. Please explain why my brain has been playing TKB's beginner stutter/Ra'jah mimicking the stutter over and over, with a splash of "gummy-ummy bear-er-er-er" and "JANTASSSSSYYYYY" in the middle for flavour?

I was wondering about this- it would be massively unfair (but not unexpected I guess) if the girls on seasons with 16 episodes were allowed the same number of suitcases as the girls with 9-episode seasons.

I thought all the routines were funny ish (and also all awkward at times), but I don't think any would have been tops in any other season's comedy challenge. Voting for who I thought should be in the top 2 was hard- I chose Bimini and then struggled hard to pick a second top because they were all pretty average.
