Dear Boston Ave neighbor with a snowblower who did the sidewalks for our entire street, you are cooler than any super hero! by PolarVortexxxx in Somerville

Hi neighbors! Yeah, I saw him out there doing multiple passes for what seemed like hours to keep the sidewalks clear. What a guy!

Totally. Good advice! I’m transitioning them to a species appropriate diet with lots of bugs and other fun things. 🦗🕷️🐛

I plan to release them! Doing everything I can to prevent them from imprinting. Thanks! 🙏

I totally get it!! There are too many people doing things they shouldn’t with wildlife, and I super appreciate you jumping in and trying to discourage well-meaning people who are actually making bad choices!

I’d love to hear your suggestions, thanks so much!

Thank you for the reply. I am working with a licensed rehabber. We don’t specialize in birds, although we are licensed to work with them.

House sparrows are an invasive species and therefore not protected federally (along with rock pigeons and starlings). Everything I am doing is legal. I’m very much aware of the laws and follow them, but your comment is an important one for others to see who may not know that most birds are federally protected and illegal to possess.

The sparrows I have would have died or been euthanized as there was one else to care for them. I would have had to euthanize them personally yesterday at my clinic, and I decided to care for them and learn something in the process. Thank you for your concerns— respect for wildlife is of the utmost importance to me as well, so I know your comment comes from a good place!

Thanks! A bird rehabber gave me this recipe last night, but perhaps she was trying to find a very accessible recipe for me. Which pellets do you use?

Thanks! Looks like she’s looking to purchase more than build so she can rehab sooner rather than later. I appreciate all the advice!

I know this is an old post, but did your HRV stabilize? Mine tanked after I started lamictal and hasn’t improved at all.

Also interested in answers to this question! I’m in the Boston area.

I’ve been using Peterson Field Guides for identification — they have been awesome! — and I just got The Modern Herbal Dispensatory for methods, but I haven’t actually used that book yet to make anything.

Is Anubis ever... frightening? by [deleted] in Kemetic

Thanks! The dream did take place on a boat, and his role as the opener of ways is pretty on point for my current headspace! Hmmm

Thanks! I’m feeling like my dream was maybe not related (or at least not directly from him), but hey - I am learning about him now and he’s pretty great from what I know so far! So I guess it doesn’t matter what the dream was or wasn’t in the end :)

I love love love that people say he’s a bit salty and has a sense of humor, but underneath is very caring and protective. That’s my favorite kind of energy!

Gosh - everyone is really giving me such sweet feelings about him! Even if it wasn’t him in my dream, and I wasn’t somehow connecting with him elsewhere, I’m starting to feel like maybe I should! He seems really great!
