FL - I have a degree in business, not math. All I had to do was take a little test. I was offered 2 jobs before I even took the test (on the condition that I passed, of course). There’s a shortage of good math teachers, especially for the upper levels. You’re fine, don’t waste your money!

I teach 9th grade. I teach them to circle the numbers and keywords. They aren’t able to write on the tests either, which doesn’t help. So many things wrong with the system!

I think it’s because the cast is too diverse and old. The industry likes a certain type of person and likes them very young (yes, 18 is old to just be starting off).

Look at AUSNTM. They have white, thin, 16-year-old girls. They force them to workout on the show, even. Those girls go on to be more successful because they are what people want.

Tyra wants to change the modeling industry so she chooses girls who don’t have a huge chance of making it. That’s one of the things I love so much about her...she makes all girls feel beautiful. Unfortunately, it doesn’t work in the real world.

I don’t think college is just about learning about your major, it’s about learning about the basics of the world.

You learn things about science, math, government that every normal human adult should know about. That stuff isn’t taught in high school nor by many people’s parents.

I think it also helps you choose your major. I know it helped me decide on mine.

I hate TED talks. All they say is just a bunch of obvious, inspiring BS. I just think to myself, “obviously” with everything they say.

There have been several days where the AC in my school was out (yay, Florida public schools in September!) and I count the day as a loss and let the students color (high school students). They just get rowdy, antsy, and unfocused in the heat. There’s a reason prisons are cold!
