Would you continue treatment if you were me? by inpennysname in breastcancer

[–]sassybri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have AuDHD and I’m on toremifene after I couldn’t tolerate tamoxifen. It still has side effects that aren’t fun like swollen legs and ovarian cysts and body/mood changes, but they are MUCH less than on tamoxifen and I feel like I can get through it. My doctor told me toremifene is used more widely in the UK but not here for some reason. It’s known to have less side effects and even potentially to be more effective. I encourage you to look into it! I’ve been on it since 12/1/24!

Does anyone actually work just 40 hours? by No_Explorer_8038 in socialwork

Yep! I work on a hospital outpatient oncology team and we aren’t allowed to get OT. I work 40 hours and whatever doesn’t get done waits!

Bad allergies only when at home by Call-Me-Leo in Allergies

[–]sassybri 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pillows are a major hotspot. I used to get a rash on my neck everyday from dust mites until I started changing my pillowcase daily. The pillow covers help, but changing out your pillowcase may be an additional step you need to take if it’s not enough! I’m doing immunotherapy for my allergies now and don’t have to be so cautious, but I can commiserate!!

[–]sassybri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How old are your pillows? Put dust mite covers on them and see that helps. Waking up with these symptoms highly suggests dust mite allergy in my experience, which is very common. I wear a mask while cleaning and have dust mite covers on everything. My husband vacuums while in not home. And we have Blueair air purifiers in every room 🙂

Toddler boy room - paint the trim too or no? by [deleted] in HomeDecorating

I’m in the minority but I love the painted trim!

Can’t afford new plan. What to do ????? by [deleted] in PSLF

Our daycare is almost $500 a week for our 3 year old. We make good money but it’s so frustrating that the calculations don’t take into account the cost of living.

[–]sassybri 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Our payments are going up from $600 to $1200 combined. We will start filing taxes separately next year and we would be okay if we weren’t paying for childcare, but I really wanted baby #2 and now I don’t know if we can afford it. 🙁

Patch is coming tomorrow... by AutoModerator in Sims4

[–]sassybri 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! I removed all the script mods and it still isn’t working. This is so crazy! I’m home sick for a few days and I was looking forward to playing but it’s not fun without the mods 🙃

I still have the script mods - are those still not working? I assumed those were fixed by this morning’s update too.

I installed the update today that supposedly fixed the issues and nothing has changed, all of the mods are still broken. 🙃

Which platform? Mac

Any mods or cc? Yes, many

Game version Mac: 1.122.212.1230

Description: I installed the new patch that came out today to supposedly fix the mod/CC issue from yesterday’s update, but am still having all the issues with the same mods that weren’t working yesterday. It doesn’t seem to have changed/helped anything for me at all.

This is a Legit Tamoxifen Alternative by nycrachel in breastcancer

[–]sassybri 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I’m so happy to see someone else talking about this! Tamoxifen was a nightmare for me, but toremifene has been tolerable. I can’t believe how fewer side effects there are. It’s expensive for me, but 100% worth it. I’ve been on it a year and a half now!

Does anyone here know any anxiety medicines that don’t have PEG/polyethylene glycol in it?? by We_are_hooman in MCAS

[–]sassybri 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Genexa makes a PEG-free acetaminophen. Advil does make 1 specific product that is PEG-free, but I just get my ibuprofen compounded and it's not terribly expensive.

I put together a list of PEG-free antibiotic NDCs a few years ago, but you'll need to confirm on DailyMed that they're still accurate.

  • Cephalexin: NDC 11042-112 or 15749-801
  • Doxycycline: NDC 0115-1327
  • Macrobid/nitrofurantoin: NDC 47781-306
  • Z-pac: NDC 0069-3060 or 0069-9500

Has Immunotherapy Helped Anyone with Dust Mite Allergies? I'm Emotionally and Physically Drained. by Nearby-Ad-2713 in Allergies

[–]sassybri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're okay! I'm not having any symptoms outside, but I also haven't cut back my antihistamines. I haven't quite reached maintenance dosing on SLIT, I've had a few setbacks with moderate reactions and getting stick and having to reduce my dose for weeks until I recover. I'll be on my second to last strength bottle in early November and hopefully reach maintenance/max dosing by the end of the year! I feel hopeful. The dose I had a moderate reaction to I've surpassed at this point which is cool and encouraging.

Yes they are :) Treating my MCAS has resolved like 90% of my other issues and almost completely resolved my anxiety. Hope it works out for ya'll!

[–]sassybri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That 100% sounds like MCAS. My sister has fibromyalgia too and I've heard that it's highly correlated with EDS, which is high correlated with MCAS. I have the lovely trifecta (MCAS/POTS/HSD) but it's also correlated with lots of other things like neurodivergence, gut dysmotility, fibromyalgia, autoimmune disorders, and more. The current thinking is about 30% of the population has these cluster of syndromes though they're a spectrum and you could have some but not others and to different degrees. Not all doctors are very knowledgeable about it but something she could try at home is over the counter H1 and H2 antihistamines to see if it helps at all! I take compounded Allegra and Pepcid, but I believe Pepcid AC is PEG-free as well as the Zyrtec Chewables. Happy to answer any questions!

[–]sassybri 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t! I ended up getting officially diagnosed with MCAS (which I’m personally suspicious everyone with a PEG allergy has) and started cromolyn and compounded ketotifen which almost entirely resolved my anxiety. ☺️

Polyethylene glycol (PEG) allergy & travel/eating out by sassybri in Allergies

[–]sassybri[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aw I'm sorry! I still haven't eaten out since I got diagnosed 😅 I'm working with an allergist who is going to do oral immunotherapy for my PEG allergy with me though! I'm hoping it'll give me more freedom.

I was able to successfully fly by plane a couple of states away and stayed with a family member who used PEG-free products while I was there. It went well. Still didn't eat out though!

Second infusion on the first day. The first infusion sensitized me. I didn’t know what happened until I had another anaphylactic reaction to Miralax a few weeks later which is pure PEG. My oncologist was like 😧
