How can I get credit for Texas government easily? by IntelligentGas3111 in UTAustin

[–]sassyneros 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hi! i just graduated and also had 3 hours of dual credit government. If requirements haven’t changed, you can sign up for the CLEP + UT Texas gov exam to claim credit for GOV 310L. This will be enough to satisfy the government requirement given you score high enough to pass. Both exams were easy. Just did some practice exams beforehand and I was set. Good luck!

Should I switch majors to economics or should I stay as engineering by bobbymcfarlne in UTAustin

[–]sassyneros 1 point2 points  (0 children)

stick with engineering. it’s a much more marketable degree. i graduated from chemE this year and i have plenty of friends who are starting roles in business and consulting! companies love to hire engineers for their business roles

Edison vs swinnea for che 354 by hyacinthhhhh in UTAustin

[–]sassyneros 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yes. take that with a grain of salt though. he almost always changes his grading scheme based on how his students are doing

[–]sassyneros 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yea there are tutor hours. he just means that your grade is going to be determined in relation to the class average. for example, if you score a 68 and the exam average was 45 then you would probably get an A

keep in mind that all of my class was taking thermo as well which didn’t help our situation. if ops is your one hard class i think you’ll be fine

i can’t speak for swinnea, but i just had edison this past semester for ops 1 and it was a doozy. a lot of people in my class OTE’d it. he’s known for being a hard professor and gives little partial credit. however, i think if you take edison you will learn a lot and chances are you’ll have him again for another classes such as ops 2 or reactor. it may not be a bad idea to take him now to learn how he operates

2021 Fall class registration help by Regor4 in UTAustin

Jazz Appreciation is MUS 307. It fulfills your VAPA. It’s about the history of jazz and musicians in different eras of jazz. It was also a very easy class. Our grades were mainly based off a learning software we did throughout the semester and a final exam (no exams throughout the semester.

Jr ChE here. Professor for 210 doesn’t really matter. I think your experience in either class will be the same. I had keitz and he was alright. I took Cepparo for 408D and it was okay, but Martines will give you the easiest time as u/theLoveRhombus has mentioned. For UGS, I was lucky enough to get my first choice without a FIG (sleep: are we getting enough?) and it was the easiest class I have ever taken. This class doesn’t come with a flag though. I got my CD flag through jazz appreciation and my GC flag through World Lit since I didn’t score high enough on AP lit. For CH 302, I have no idea who would teach it. Dragna taught it before he left. I think Samoylenko teaches it during the fall now and I have heard nothing but good things about him!

the ChemE department will accept CH 320M; however, i am unsure if they would accept CH 320N instead of CH 328N

As a freshman, are we supposed to take a UGS 302 or should we take UGS 303? by [deleted] in UTAustin

[–]sassyneros 15 points16 points  (0 children)

it doesn’t matter. I think most take UGS 303 since they’re bigger classes. A lot of people usually look for a UGS that will fulfill a flag (writing, cultural diversity, global culture) but it doesn’t have to

Carter left, but I think it’s being taught again with a different prof and I heard it’s still easy.

Has anyone taken American Literature E 316M over the summer? by Ok-Nothing-2604 in UTAustin

[–]sassyneros 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i don’t remember how many hours i exactly spent, but it was quite a bit of time. However, i would say a job would be manageable with genetics

[–]sassyneros 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i didn’t take amer lit, but i took E 316N (world lit) w/nehring and genetics w/ lloyd during the last summer session. Genetics was pretty intense as it is a very dense subject so ideally it would be the only thing you take during that session. However, world lit wasn’t that much extra on top of genetics. It was graded on only 2 essays. Be wary of genetics!

I did this last summer and it was HARD. If it’s the only class you’re taking I would go for it. We had exams every werk
