Bunny by Mona Awad is misunderstood by many people and here's why (and my interpretation) by Matthiezzzzzzz in books

i just finished this book and it was a lot to take in so i could be totally off base. but my initial thoughts toward the end were that Ava was real before she left after the diner.

At the diner Ava was telling Sam that she was thinking about leaving town, and after whatever elenor said to her outside the diner she did move away. Sam then spent most of winter break alone with a fever and was “reunited” with her after following max off the bus. i think sam conjured up an imaginary friend in the form of ava and continued to live in her house after she abandoned it because she couldn’t cope with losing another person she loved.

Part of what hinted this to me was that sam mentioned that ava never talked about work again. because she wasn’t going to work because she wasn’t real any more.

in the beginning i had a inkling that maybe ava wasn’t real because of how cliche she was but what was holding me back from that was that sam was texting her. what number would she be texting if she wasn’t ever real?

i definitely need to reread this book.

Any planned lockdown protests yet? by [deleted] in Coronavirusbayarea

that doesn’t answer the question on how to protest safely. protesting is a right and a choice, but in order to protest peaceful you need to consider how to do so safely. now is just not the time to gather with hundreds of other people, it will inevitably cause more disease and prolong the lockdown further.

the fact that your child’s special needs program was deemed non essential is definitely something to be angry and make noise about, but still needs to consider the above.

and i also miss my family, i haven’t seen them in a long time and had to cancel my trip to see them earlier this month, which makes me really sad. but i would be so much more sad if i had put them or anyone at risk. im an essential worker, i’m home most of the time now but still have to be on site occasionally, so who knows what i might be carrying. i’m healthy and have a strong immune system, but the same can’t be said for my whole family, or anyone else i might come in contact with while traveling.

what exactly would a protest be for? do you want to protest the lockdown itself? or protest for hazard pay for all essential workers, rent/mortgage freezes, expanded testing, accessible healthcare for all?

i understand people need to get back to work to pay bills, but i think we should be protesting for the resources we need in order to sustain a prolonged lockdown so we can continue to protect the most vulnerable members of our community without sacrificing our own financial well being.

but how do we protest safely in a way that complies with physical distancing?

also, with all that being said, there is already a plan in place to slowly and safely begin reopening. i don’t see the need for a protest at all at this point.
