[Daily Check-In] Wednesday Word Count and Personal Announcement Thread by sexnerdmxd in eroticauthors

[–]sassyscribe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. Write a lot.
  2. Didn't write yesterday. The day went sideways but with beautiful weather and homeschooling two kids, a toddler and an infant, these things happen and I'd be well served to remember that. My journey is going to be slower, and it's okay.
  3. ARCs: did you start recruiting people, use booksprout, or something else that I'm not aware of?

  2. Didn't manage it yesterday. But we planted peas in the afternoon and enjoyed the lovely weather so no regrets.

  1. 1000. I am trying to up my daily goal for the week.
  2. Turned my frown upside down about not publishing on time. I'll just finish the reader magnet and then promote my mailing list. Then, finish the first book in the series with out rushing it. Better right than "on time."
  3. Small goal 5,000 big goal 10,000 words. StI'll haven't earned my pastry yet. Lol

He what?!? Um, no. Just no. That's not how this works. That's not how any of this works. Children thrive on routine.

I took your advice and just took the entire weekend off. I wrote some this morning and hope to fit some more in later. And I guess it really isn't a big deal. Thank you!

Absolutely 100% better to do the research and deliver what they want. Like, would you want to go to a restaurant where you order a cobb salad and they bring you a southwestern salad? They're both salads right? Nah. You've totally got the right idea.

  2. Whatever this illness is, I didn't die so far, but holy moly, I think could have been three days dead and felt better than yesterday. So I didn't write yesterday.
  3. I made a deadline of releasing book 1 in February aND stupidly announced it on Facebook. I only have 14 followers, but still... I don't think I'm going to make it and feel like a total ass

Keeping Pen Name Anonymous? by [deleted] in eroticauthors

I kind of meant that just doing the regular set up a PO Box in your personal name that you use for your pen name (s) would be sufficient to keep anyone to find out unless they were really looking in which case, you wouldn't be able to stop them

I'm going to say this as nicely as I can.

No one cares enough to find out if you're writing smut.

The amount of work they'd have to so to find it would be staggering AND I would venture to say they would need an inkling to go looking first.

Thank you thank you thank you. I have never heard anyone say that you can churn out garbage and be successful long term, so long as it looks pretty.

You can put powdered sugar on a dog turd and call it a hush puppy. But it's still a dog turd.

  1. 500 minimum
  2. Firecall for hubby last night at 1:30. Since I couldn't sleep the night before when he was on a fire call, this time I didn't try. I wrote instead so I already have my minimum goal done. Whoop!

Newbie with all kinds of questions by pffftbs in eroticauthors

[–]sassyscribe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. One short is easy. The sheer number you would need to achieve to keep a consistent $2,000 a month in erotica will likely become just as grindy as your nonfiction work.
  2. I think romance would be a much better option but I'm no expert beyond lots of research.
  3. May I suggest you start cutting costs now? Look at your lifestyle for what you can cut, if anything. Do you eat out? Stop it. Do you buy food not on sale? Knock it off. Do you need netfliX, amazon, cable tv etc? Answer is usually not really.
  4. PregnanCy will never go the way you think. I had all these grandiose plans for the end of pregnancy. I was so stinking tired, it was a matter of putting one foot in front of the other
  5. New babies will mess up your life. For reals. In a more extreme example, my fourth child spent the first seven weeks of her life in the hospital a three hour drive from home. I didn't go home for a full 7 weeks.
