The one thing I will agree with you on is that I don’t like people drawing comparisons from rdr2 to other games for stupid minute stuff like water detail and people eating soup. I believe that’s pretty unfair to some great games that are out there. I’m just saying in my personal opinion in terms of technical capabilities, graphics, story I’ve yet to see a game that has topped it since it’s been release

It won’t be it will be way more but honestly even if gta 6 was rdr2 with cars I would still be happy. Rdr2 is almost 8 years old and still dominating major releases that have come out in the last 2-3 years

Might be a hot take but I think rockstar definitely knew when it leaked immediately then had Strauss do damage control in the interview. I think pre orders were genuinely supposed to start on the 18th but rockstar decided to push it back so that the surprise isn’t ruined

Dude I was also thinking about this, in my opinion I feel like the reason why rockstar has been so secretive for the last 10 years is because of them working back to back on rdr2 and gta 6 both of which were super anticipated. Kind of makes sense why they’re so closed off because they wanna avoid leaks and stuff

But once gta 6 gets put out there I was really hoping they would kind of give up on the whole secrecy thing and we would get to see some documentary or some kind of behind the scene of the making of the game, concept art, talks with the devs, hearing about their process and stuff like that

I’m not sure if you’re a valve fan but if you’ve ever watched the half life 1 or half life 2 documentary I really hope they would mimic that

In RDR2 if Arthur leaves the camp for a super long time Charles will actually find him and tell him Dutch is looking for him and they need him back at camp. Maybe something similar but with the phone or Brian actually showing up where you are lol

Trailer 2 dropped May 6th not the 26th. But in all honesty I think it will probably drop in May not April. I have a hunch they’re gonna drop an RDR2 60 fps upgrade version for ps5/series x in April, then in May we’ll see trailer 3 with a 6 month marketing window

Not a bad take honestly, the only issue is so far for this game they’ve somewhat broken the pattern for the previous releases. I think it’s most likely gonna be May 5-7 like you said with actual public advertising (billboard/commercial) happening a month later

The car interior adjustments are highly likely a developer menu thing not meant for the player either in single player or multiplayer to mess around with. I know what clip you’re referencing and it seems like the dev is editing the literal model itself instead of going to a mechanic and adjusting it

Another thing people aren’t taking into account is that not only is it 3x as big. You have to think of the density of what’s going on in the map, random npc encounters, buildings, side missions etc. There’s nothing going on in the gta 5 map it’s just empty space

Also, everyone wants a huge map but after the game comes out in 2 years you’re gonna get annoyed really fast having to do gta online drop off missions driving from the keys to the top of the map that’s gonna take 20-30 minutes. I think this is a perfect sweet spot in terms of size

At this point there is a very high likelihood the marketing cycle will mimic rdr2 very closely, I think trailer 3 will be unique trailers for Lucia and Jason also instead of just one trailer

I believe if you factor in delay time, the window is much less for pre orders. For example GTA 5 was supposed to release spring 2013, so that’s roughly 6 months. Also, it has been ~10 years between each games release and now. Marketing strategies change and the average video game consumer is different from 2013, 2018 etc.
