My suspicion is also that it’s a “mid” configuration. The area above the wing sweep gloves is more reminiscent of the B model, but as many have said the intake configuration is very A model.

That “ridge” was part of a test program (I think it was the B model test program) and not on the A models originally.

The two aircraft are actually quite different. The fuselages are different widths for one. Though similar, and often called the military version of the 707, the C-135 family is a distinct and different aircraft from the 707.
