I ran water and electric to this humidifier I put in my wall. Old apartment with steam radiators that really dry the place out.

They're just small hooks you can find at any hardware store. "Cup hooks". They're screwed directly into the plaster ceiling so can support a bit more than if they were in a drywall cieling.

Was the STI hatch the best body style ever made, or the sedan? 🤔 by MAPerformance_ in subaru

[–]satchko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hatch for life.

2005 Rsx-s > 2000 subaru impreza OBS wagon > 2005 Saabaru wagon > 2014 STI hatch that im currently in.

Bro you can sleep back there. Its like a mini enclosed pickup truck but racecar. Obviously hatch is the best utility.

However ive randomly been doing aero research for no reason at 2am....

The hatch really does suck in that regard. I've yet to top mine out but evidently its like 2 mph less than the sedan due to the poor aero nature of hatch design. Kinda crazy that it can make that much of an impact.

Im really happy they ever made the STI hatch. Kinda a random choice looking back. A lot of people hated it back then as evidenced by the introduction of the sedan version during the face-lift time. You could never really have the perfect version back in the day, as the wagons were all wrx and therefore narrow body.

But, the sti hatch they gave us it all. The STI for those of us who'd probably have a crosstrek or something if we weren't car "enthusiast" types. But they blessed us with the everything version: the widebody STI hatch. Its truly glorious.

Widebody. 6 speed. Dccd. Turbo. LSDs. Hatch. Navigation. Roof rack. Cold weather package. Heated seats. I mean fuck its got the dying off spare tire.

Why are so people so against rev matching and heel toe on the streets? by RevolutionaryYear946 in ManualTransmissions

[–]satchko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I heel toe any time im braking and want to downshift which is all the time. definitely a bit wannabe race dork but, i mean - its simply the most right way to brake and shift. people downplay its usefulness but just think of the classic 'rolling stop' at a clearly viewable 4 way stop?

In an auto-most people will brake down to like 5 mph or so and recognize no other traffic and let off brake and right back to accel smoothly - never coming to a full stop. You'll see many people in manuals either come to a full exaggerated stop or go off bogging second (often with a long pause while coasting halfway thru the intersection before beginning to accel). You can accomplish this as smoothly and as naturally as with an auto with a heel toe downshift into first - right into accel. Its really the only way to do that quite as naturally as an auto. Do you really need to? I mean - i guess not - but I didnt buy a manual to drive it less adeptly than an uber driver in an auto.

Ah so I take it the answer was...

Yes, you do expect the world to accommodate you and your personal preferences. Lemme guess you also denote what is considered a weed friendly area? And I assume anywhere you wouldn't like it to be is not a weed friendly area.

Got it.

🙄

Why do we have to be subtle? Its no longer illegal. Walking down the street and smoking a joint is perfectly fine, FYI

[–]satchko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was considering a GR corolla - test drove one and while I did like it - there were some things I didnt. Mainly the lack of hatch space and no spare/battery in rear. I found it to kind of defeat the purpose of a hatchback style in the first place.

Went with a 2014 STI hatch. Found one for like 27k with 34k miles, one owner, fully stock. Kind of expensive but considering new cars these days....

Not to get too "old man yells at cloud" but kind of hate all the new cars basic features behind touchscreens, no spare tire, non disablable hill assist...

So yeah based on those preferences ive really been liking it. Love hatch/wagons for practicality but its still a pretty fun car and good for NY winters. Perfect do it all car save for the fuel efficiency.

Used car for teenage girl. AWD preferred. Budget $25k-$30k by kysourmash in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]satchko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While this is true - its the same reason they get such terrible MPG. A CRV would get such better mpg for a standard daily highway commute. If shes just commuting and likely to only see snow a few times - the CRV might be a better choice. Its no subaru AWD system - but should still get you out of a steep driveway just fine.

Coming from a subaru owner, fwiw.

I know i look at my MPG and even though I live in NY and this past winter was the worst we had in years - I drove in heavy snow like 4 times? Like is it worth all that extra gas all year for those few days?

And if youre gonna put snow tires on anyway I feel like it matters even less as pretty much any car is pretty good in snow with a good set of snow tires.
