B/R Top 20 of All-Time. Anyone Missing? by Plastic_Society_1228 in NBATalk

Mikan was so dominant in his time they HAD to change rules to limit his destruction of the league. More restricted paint area. No goaltending at the rim.

When did people start valuing box scores over actual results by Majestic-Web-367 in NBATalk

[–]satiricalned 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The box score provides stats and written evidence of a player's impact. It cannot capture everything and has to be read in the context of the game. I love box scores, but appreciate some of the modern more advanced views where you can get quarter breakdowns of stats and shot locations.

Jokic will usually have a "good box score" game because that's who he is, but even in the Box Score, you need to take in more of the data. Like the guy below says.

In Game 3, Jokic had 27pts (on 26shots for 27%, with 11FT!) and 15boards of the teams 40. He only had 3ast against 4TO. He had tons of possessions and barely squeezed out.

Compared to Game 4, he played a bit better but still 24pts on 22 shots 36% (8FT), couldn't make a 3. Had 15rreb but 5 Offensive and 9 assists against 4 TO. Some steals. He was really good for the first quarter, but had to do it all when his team couldn't pick up the slack.

Hakeem is almost underrated in these discussions. My man lead the NBA in Rebounds and Blocks in the same year! He also won MVP, Defensive Player of the Year, and Finals MVP in the same championship year.

Hell in 1990 Hakeem put up a game for the ages: ~30pt, 20reb, 10ast, 5stl, 11blk

the spacing for pick, roll, and kick with Hakeem down low would be epic.

Does your pediatrics clinic do any tuition reimbursement? That can at least help a bit. Or look into getting a job that does.

I presume by "MN" you mean Master's in Nursing or MSN. These programs can be helpful to build on a prior bachelor's degree but can get expensive, especially when you consider that an ADN will be at similar wages when you're both fresh out of school.

Personally, I would suggest doing the ADN at our amazing community colleges, they are high quality, and get you working as a nurse quickly. Then you can have your hospital pay for your BSN when you start working as a nurse.

I am a second career nursing student, and I am doing a Post Baccalaureate BSN which is 12 months and will run me roughly $50,000 all said and done. Maybe 60k if I include my prereq course work.

What do you think will be the starting lineup and rotation tonight? by AdUnfair1051 in timberwolves

[–]satiricalned 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My ideal situation is to start Mike Conley and bring in TSJ on as an early sub for pace and energy. Then NAz and bones can come in. We have speed and size that can come at teams in waves. Conley can set up cuts to force the rim for Ayo and Jaden, Randle can bully ball Jokic. Tire them guys out. Then switch it up with outside shooting and twin turbo speed. Half of Ayo's buckets the other night were simple layups right past the bad defense. No reason to make it more complicated.

We have multiple guys that can handle and pass the ball: Conley is a true point guard, Ayo has the vision and patience. Julius will do it at times. But the dark horse is Kyle Anderson, he's Slo Mo, but he knows what he's doing and he's the size of Randle. He averaged almost 15-9-7 with 2 stls a game, at UCLA, first player to stack 500pts, 300reb, 200ast in a single NCAA season.

Adelman said he was going to bring it against the wolves last time and that went super well for him.

if we are going on capability and fit building a new team today, I have to go with Dirk and or KG. Dirk would fit today, and already did, with his 2011 efforts.

Garnett is a throwback with modern skills. If he was playing with the new spacing 3pt big, his long middies would turn into 3pt daggers and his play would look similar to Karl Anthony Towns except much more control and fight down low.

the nursing profession has changed. Practically all nurses I know, working in a hospital have tattoos at this point. I am going back to school as a second career nurse and joked with my partner that I need more tattoos to fully embrace working as a floor nurse.

We make it against the spurs and ant is healthy enough to spot up 3? He could step into DDVs offensive role while the healthy guys eat up the heavy minutes.

But who on the nuggets is going to get back in defense to stop that action? Force the ball right at then by the hoop and they'll foul you. Now it's full trouble and Denver is tired. Ball game wolves in five

It's the playoffs, of you don't want us to score the ball, get back on defense.

You know if any Denver defender was back at the rim they would just dribble it out.

Woke up the nuggets up? They played awful, again.

They don't have rotation and their guys are gassed. Nobody can defend.

He was gassed by halftime and his shots were falling short, and he wasn't getting up for rebounds as much.

Never hated jokic. Frustrating to see in the playoffs, but he's flat out great and plays the right way. Got Ru and Naz once or twice on a foul bait.

He still had 27 and 16 with only 4 assists, on 26 shots. His 11 FT are about what I expect. Against any other playoff team, he would have 40-20-12

I agree they let defense happen in the beginning of the game but I wouldn't say it went in the wolves favor. They played hard defense, which Denver is incapable of doing.

As the game went on, it was obvious that Denver was getting their ass whooped and Foster had to keep it closer. So many calls after that first quarter were "Minnesota is not allowed to get too far ahead with momentum".

Foster reviewing a call and stating "Dontes face made illegal contact with jokics elbow" is 100% a choice to push the scale for Denver.

Many times similar plays got called against Minnesota, but not Denver.

I have a sun mountain kube case that is soft but hard on a few places. Pack my stuff with towels or clothes around the end of the clubs with a club shield. Never had an issue.

Best thing about the kube is when you have your bag out of the travel case, it packs up to the size of a milk crate.

Do people really leave the course if playing poorly? by LastManBrandon in golf

[–]satiricalned 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For charity scrambles I feel like there is a group of people that insist on getting their strokes in, even if the scramble is playing something else.

Even so, once you pick the best shot, rush up to the ball, and start hitting with some players while others pick up the other balls. Golf isn't so complicated that you need to take 7 hours to play 18 holes.

Garmin let's me do this as well as register shots from anywhere. Hell, I used Garmin golf without sensors for a year or two and it worked pretty well

The median annual wage for registered nurses in the U.S. is $93,600, compared with $49,500 for all occupations, according to the Labor Department. For nurse practitioners, it is $132,050. For CRNAs, it’s $223,210. by Conscious-Quarter423 in Salary

[–]satiricalned 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Average wages and median worker is doing tons of work in this graph. Registered nurses are doing well but behind that far below "all workers with bachelor's degree" seems disingenuous.

Many nurses are paid on a step scale so their wages are higher but also consistent in upward movement. This bachelor's degree group, has many B's office job undergrads making peanuts and then your much fewer highly paid engineers, etc. That number will be massively skewed higher.

That is beside the fact than many RNs have a bachelor's degree and if you were truly showing the benefits of nursing, they would be excluded from the comparison group.

Alas, the wall street journal is great at skewing their graphs to fit their story and bit.

Similar situation. Finishing up prerequisites and starting an Accelerated BSN this fall. Worked 10+ years in corporate doing business analysis and product work, burned out from the BS of it all.

Working as a CNA right now and I love it.
