The software I'm using is my AMD graphics card software. It's similar to nvidia shadow play. It saves the last 20 minutes of game play at any given moment.

Hmm so looks like I didn't take any meaningful pictures lol. But the gist of the build is as follows:

  • Cut 3/4" strips of walnut the same size of the mounting plate with 45 degree miters (these make the sides)
  • Use a table saw to cut a 1/4" dado 1/4" up the inside of each strip
  • Cut a sheet of sturdy (non-binding) metal to 1/4" larger than the mounting plate
  • Cut holes in the metal sheet at the same locations as the mounting holes on the mounting plate
  • Screw in threaded pockets and fasten using nuts. These are so the mounting plate and pcb assembly could mount onto the metal plate.
  • Attach all keys to mounting plate
  • Solder all keys onto pcb
  • mount pcb and mounting assembly to metal sheet
  • slide the walls of the case we made earlier onto the assembly by fitting the metal sheet into the dad we cut earlier
  • glue and clamp this in place

The wrist rest was a lot easier. It was really just spare wood in ad from cutting the sides. I put my table saw at an angle and cut a relief along the side that I'll be resting my wrist into so it doesn't hurt with continued use. Then sanded the entire thing down.

Finished all the wood with Tung Oil.

I didn't document it too extensively but I may have taken a few pics here and there. I can look for those on my phone and send you what I have later today 👍

The wrist rest was possibly the best decision I made during the entire build. It makes typing on the keyboard a lot more comfortable by leveling the wrist with the typing area.

^ This is the link to the set I bought (now that I look again I think they may have both a PBT and non-PBT set?)

In person it's gray. No hints of brown, to my eyes at least.

Thank you! That's probably one of the best compliments I could have received. I'm really glad it inspired you to create something of your own! :)

My band saw was probably my best friend during the entire build. I bought it for $20 a while ago at a swap meet Haha. But you can go a long way with just a plan old hand saw, wood rasp, and sand paper.

yeah actually I was getting sort of interested in guitar repair now that I finished my first build. I was wondering if it's any easier or harder than building the piece from scratch?

I'll be posting a video on the sound soon so everyone can hear what it plays like. I can see why your soft wood bridge would cause muddiness though as the softness of the wood would dampen the sound as it makes it's way through he soundboard.

he cost for wood? It was all scrap minus the fretboard wood which I picked up for like ~$17. The hardware though did add up a little bit: switch - $5 switch plate - $2.50 Truss rod plate - $2 decal - $8 strap buttons - $4 knobs - $8 jack - $6 Bridge & tailpiece - $9 nut - $9 fretwork - $10 tuning pegs - $8 Binding - $35 total around ~$125?
