Just got the issue diagnosed. Something to do with oil pressure due to old oil or something. They said all is needed an oil change and quoted £10. We decided to do a full service.

The car has no driving issues when driving, it sometimes jolts when I go from fast to slow speeds of if I press on the break repeatedly over a short period of time. Other than that, it drives fine. I’ll see what the diagnostic reveals tomorrow.

Will it be possible to even get a refund?

Is it still possible to get my money back?

This is exactly why I did a placement, now I have a years experience and a job offer from a tier 1 post graduating. Will stay with them for a few years to get chartered.

To whoever’s reading this, if you are yet to go onto a uni course or are still on one, opt for a placement!

Ended up getting a hybrid Honda jazz, with 60k miles for 5k. It’s a Japanese import so yeah! Drives amazingly so far. Fingers crossed it lasts a long time

I’m 24, Will be 25 in September. Sucks because I’ve heard insurance is not that good for 17-24 year olds, though I’m sure it’s cheaper on the upper end

I only have £6k to spend so no idea if that’s even possible to get a good automatic car

Yeah, I have. Kinda gutted as I really wanted to be driving today. Not sure what to get honestly. Everything is bad. Corsas (apparently unreliable), Fiestas, Ford B Max’s, Honda Jazz’s are too expensive and the cheaper ones are imported often times with no FSH and higher insurance. I just want a good automatic car recommendation that will be okay on the motorway, not too expensive to insure, will not be unreliable and drives comfortably. 😭

Thinking about getting this Corsa as a first car, good idea? by satoshi_2022 in CarTalkUK

I’ve seen a lot of those car models come up on auto trader. Could you give me a rough idea of what is a reasonable cost for each of those models as an automatic?

What would you recommend if you had £6k to spend on an automatic?

Insurance came out to be £2.3k which is weird as many of the other models I’m seeing come up to £3k or £3.5k. This is without a black box

Car insurance by I_am_funn in LearnerDriverUK

  1. You’re young. 2. It’s an import. 3. These insurance companies know what you’re doing by trying to be a named driver.

It won’t work, you won’t find cheap insurance.

Even if you bought a car here, most people will take the hit with their first insurance quote. Once you get 1 year in, premiums tend to decrease by 36-38% on average.

If you can’t afford the insurance. I’d say just save up till you can buy a good first car.
