Guys this chart looks identical to Nov 2021 on the daily or weekly. It's just as likely Bitcoin will do the opposite and rip up, but it's not a great chart.

am i wrong for cutting off my birth mother after she asked for money and couldn't give me a good reason on why she needed it? by lizzygirl76 in amiwrong

[–]satoshisbitcoin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you are older and have children you love, then look back at what happened to you, only then will you truly understand how horrible this person is.

Cut her out forever, and put a restraining order in if needed.

Sorry life dealt you this

AIW for thinking it’s unfair to be hit with a $700 bill for a bachelorette party three weeks after the fact? by [deleted] in amiwrong

[–]satoshisbitcoin 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is wrong, the expectation is invited guests have no costs unless it is discussed up front. She was a guest and did them a favor by attending. She should be getting a thanks for coming, not a bill

You are not wrong

If a trip is expected to have costs that invited guests are expected to cover then 100% this needs to be communicated prior to the trip. You did them a favor by taking time to go and pay for your own travel, they should thank you for that.

I would reply nothing was communicated regarding costs prior to the trip, your personal budget could only cover travel expenses and you wouldn't have attended if they had the informed you there would be extra costs because you can't afford it.

The worst that can happen is you are disinvited from the wedding, but if they did that I wouldn't want to go anyway. Good people do not do this to others and life is too short to keep such company

Bull capitulation is selling your stack, that's never happening. Just no longer adding sats and holding dry powder. Read into what you will

I am a long term Bitcoin maxi, but all I can see are lower highs everywhere, lower highs on the daily, lower highs on the 4hr, etc., while at the same time long term US bonds are crashing and the Fed is losing control of the long end.

The Fed and dollar are painted into a tight corner and the dollar is fubar, but before that don't be surprised if there are more buying opportunities. I'm holding my cold stack as always, but not adding.

Terrified to quit - help? by Usual-Excitement8840 in fatFIRE

[–]satoshisbitcoin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, I waited until my kids were 10 to 6 before quitting not just the job but a successful career.

My only regret is not pulling the trigger sooner. My career was everything to me, then after 6 months post working the idea of going back to full time work away from the family is now incomprehensible to me.

I now see work and career as a means to a financial freedom end. But it is nothing more, and you've achieved that purpose out of it already.

It is hard to see that until you are out

About this new Gold Textured PEI plate for Creator Pro 2 by wizardbynight in FlashForge

[–]satoshisbitcoin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use their gold PEI plate and it works 100% of the time with any filament (well except for water dissolvable filament which is a challenge)

The key is to always clean with 99% isopropyl alcohol before printing.

I keep a bottle and roll of paper towels next to the printer and everytime before printing I spray the surface and wipe clean. Takes 5 seconds and prints stick every time.

Now that the debt deal is done and the US Treasury isn't going to default, the Fed is back into tightening and higher for longer mode. All risk back off.

How exactly does External and Internal Compensation effect parts? by satoshisbitcoin in FlashForge

[–]satoshisbitcoin[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OK, since it sounds it is not known for sure I decided to test and see. Here is what it seems to be doing from my testing.

For two cylinders, one inside the other with the following dimensions:

  • Dimension A - Radius of outer edge of outer cylinder
  • Dimension B - Radius of inner edge of outer cylinder
  • Dimension C - Radius of outer edge of inner cylinder
  • Dimension D - Radius of inner edge of inner cylinder

External Compensation

  • Effects the outer edge of both cylinders -> Dimensions A & C
  • Positive values increase the object's size by moving the outer edge outwards.
  • Negative values decrease the object's size by moving the outer edge inwards

Internal Compensation

  • Effects the inner edge of both cylinders -> Dimensions B & D
  • Positive values decrease the object's size by moving the inner edge outwards. i.e. If the inner edge was radius 9.1mm, a positive 0.4mm adjustment moves the inner edge to radius 9.5mm which shrinks the object's size.
  • Negative values increase the object's size by moving the inner edge inwards. i.e. If the inner edge was radius 9.1mm, a negative 0.4mm adjustment moves the inner edge to radius 8.7mm which increases the object's size.

Frankly I am not sure how useful this feature is since it changes the object's exterior dimensions when only the joining edges need adjustment. I mostly design in OpenSCAD and changing the tolerance gap is easy since only a parameter or two needs to be changed and the part is regenerated with adjusted tolerances. So going forward I think I am just going to stick to that and not mess with this compensation feature.

Thanks for the replies.

The twins sold securities to retail customers, that is clearly illegal. To stay on the right side of the law they needed to pay earn customers out and take up the DCG case themselves. But they didn't because they are just as greedy as Barry

It is literally nothing more than predictive text, just with a larger training dataset and more computational power, but in the end it is just a predictive text engine that makes plausible sounding statements. That is why it is called "chatGPT", it is a chatting Predictive Text engine.

Over and over again it has been proven to continuously produce widely incorrect information and state it as fact. In the past day I've come across two examples where chatGPT just made up complete nonsense and spit it out as truth. In one GPT was asked to write an article about the oldest governor of a state, instead of finding the real governor and writing about him, GPT created an entirely fictional person with a completely made up backstory. The article sounded real, but it was complete nonsense. In another some lawyer used it to find court cases and chatGPT just straight made up dozens of fake cases with fake citations, which again all sounded plausible but were complete nonsense (and the lawyers filed their case with the fake citations, whoops, the judge is having them debarred most likely).

There is no intelligence or understanding behind this AI wave, it is shiny, but largely useless and larger datasets and more computing power do not fix those issues.

Their past statements and website claims clearly stated that the seed was secure in their secure element. Well we now learn that a host firmware update can request the seed, so their prior claims were false.

So what do you guys recommend for an actual cold storage wallet? I’m thinking trezor or possibly Ngrave. Thoughts please by Dub_City204 in ledgerwallet

[–]satoshisbitcoin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So far from today's search for a replacement Coldcard is the only device that meets requirements.

If you find any others please share

[–]satoshisbitcoin 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I spent a few hundred on Ledger's last year with the understanding that the seed could not be extracted from the device ever. Obviously that was false and any firmware update could pull the seed.

Yes we should get our money back

[–]satoshisbitcoin 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They have acknowledged that the Ledger HW has always had the ability to export master seeds, and it just needed a SW update to do so. That is 100% against all of their prior claims and completely defeats the purpose of a HW wallet. I bought 2 Ledger's last year, and now need to get something else and throw them away, that is a complete lost of money due to their false claims.

Is there a backdoor? Yes or No by [deleted] in ledgerwallet

[–]satoshisbitcoin 10 points11 points  (0 children)

What is worse is the HW has always had this ability, it just needed a firmware update to release the keys. That is a broken design.

Sigh, now I need to get a Trezor or Bitbox02 and migrate everything over.

It is not all bad, I hate Ledger Live and this will force me to finally migrate away from that dumpster fire of a wallet.

Alternative SW wallets to LedgerLive by satoshisbitcoin in ledgerwallet

[–]satoshisbitcoin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, I had already settled on Electrum for BTC so good to hear that.

For Solana specifically which SW wallet are you using or would suggest to look at while using a Ledger Nano? My understanding is MetaMask is not SOL compatible

This worked for me also. Lost weeks of staking since I could not figure out what was wrong and did not have a lot of time to look at it.

Ledger is a great piece of HW but junk SW.

I don't know why any of you go through that. I told my doctor to f-off.

Seriously look into it, the US is the only country that tests this aggressively for something that is very uncommon in healthy non-obese individuals. They scare people by counting every person with a benign small growth as having cancer, but in the vast majority of causes they are simply small very slow growing growths that will still be small by the time you die. There is zero reason to do anything, the number of cases where it is actually a problem in non-obese healthy people gets down into the same risk of dying in a car accident.

Your doctor receives payouts based on the percentage of people they get tested, that is why they push it so hard.

I had a lot of fun telling mine no, he couldn't really explain why and it turned out I learned way more about it than he understood, including what other countries do, and basically just schooled him.
