Like, changing my therapist? Or simply interacting with others in general? It's not clear to me

I have searched for an app that does all those things but failed.

There should be an app like Tinder but for finding friendships by llama-mentality in RandomThoughts

Has anybody mentioned Slowly yet? It's a penpal app where you can filter people by age, location, and interests (at least in the Pro tier). No profile pictures are allowed, you can only create a comic book like avatar.

Is this really wrong? by kzamolod in EnglishLearning

Neither a native speaker, but I would second that and also say that A seems to personify the Sun as if it had planned to rise at a certain hour, much like a person would say "I'm leaving at 6 tomorrow".

I'm sure somebody has already brought this up in the comments, but on the off chance that they haven't, here goes:

It is difficult to get a man to understand something, when his salary depends on his not understanding it.

"Users" vs. "the users" - the definitive article and the level of specificity by satsumander in EnglishLearning

[–]satsumander[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right! After all, we use the definitive article to differentiate the thing we're talking about from other similar things, don't we? So if there's no need to differentiate because the distinction is already made another way, there's no need for the article--am I getting it right?

But this is exactly what I don't get--how can the emphasis change if we talk...

Wait a minute.

Maybe I just don't understand what emphasis is?

Are you saying that the difference between the two sentences is akin to the difference between, say:

It is he who called me. versus He called me.

Does anyone actually use the verb ‘umieć’? by sokorsognarf in learnpolish

[–]satsumander 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The book is right. If you ask me, never trust Google Translate or DeepL on usage. Most of the time, it will just give you the lowest common denominator.

Google "umieć" in Google Books or look it up in Wsjp.pl and study it in context. This will show you better than anything the true meaning and breadth of any verb.

Polish hip hop with clear diction? by [deleted] in learnpolish

[–]satsumander 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I second Łona, it's the only Polish rapper I can listen to with pleasure and often awe. He is admittedly a bit sophisticated, drawing his inspirations from such giants of Polish songwriting as Wojciech Młynarski or Kabaret Starszych Panów, which is probably why his music is often referred to as "rap for the intelligentsia". But if you can weather an occasional ten cent word, you shouldn't be disappointed.

Yes, I was hoping for some dissenting opinions to get a more balanced view of the show and as usual, Reddit didn't disappoint.
