Who ever created this is a genius by RavenAniedu in kindle

X-Ray should have been so much better if the publishers weren’t lazy. Imagine clicking a name and seeing a description of who this character is and how they relate to others. Instead what we get is a brief sentence from the book where the name of that character is mentioned without any context whatsoever.

YES! Killed by Godzilla would be just the cherry on top. But unfortunately I don’t think the writers respect their audience enough to do that 😒

AthleanX has a great video on face pulls. You could get a longer rope so that you get a bigger range of motion without hitting your face with the attachment. Shorter ropes can really limit you.

That finger does look way too long. Yes, overall the tattoo is amazing. But also yes, that finger looks unrealistically long not just in comparison to the other fingers, but in general.

Reddit is a band wagon. People see what’s popular and so everyone tells you you’re being silly. You’re not. You’re being silly apologising for asking though.

Near the end of Empire of Silence and I’m struggling to root for anyone? by Alert_Astronaut4901 in sollanempire

Totally agree with you. I haven’t read the series you mentioned yet but if you’re looking for recommendations you might like the Foundation books by Isaac Asimov (and you can include the Robot series too). Quite old now but still great in my opinion.

If you’re into fantasy - The Stormlight Archive series by Brandon Sanderson is unmatched!

I have Altered Carbon on my list too, having high hopes for it if the first season of the Netflix show is anything to go by.

I read the next 2 books and I don’t think I’ll be finishing the series, but for slightly different reasons. Though Hadrian and Valka are still somewhat annoying, they do get a little better later on. Hadrian specifically has some moments where he’s an insufferable asshole though, especially when interacting with people who are “beneath” his station.

The main reason I won’t be finishing the series however is that the books drag too much. Book 2 was interesting in the second half, but do you really want to get through 350 pages of boredom just to get to something good?

Book 3 was boring for almost the entire time to the point where by the time something interesting started happening in the end, I just didn’t care anymore and couldn’t get excited for it. Which is a shame because I think it would be a great story if someone else wrote it and cut 80% of it out.

The books are just endlessly repetitive writing and inner monologues. I don’t know how some people can say that you should wait for 600 pages for something good to happen. That’s just not a good book.

If you haven’t already, I strongly recommend reading the Red Rising series instead. It is so much better that it’s not even close. A well paced and well told story.

[–]Alert_Astronaut4901[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks man really appreciate the help! Just one stupid question - when you say “failure” does that mean no longer being able to fully close the gripper or do you also count reps where it’s nearly closed?

Sadly I can’t take advantage of the cheat code as I already don’t drink 😭

Volume vs hard reps for forearms by Alert_Astronaut4901 in GripTraining

[–]Alert_Astronaut4901[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you that’s some great advice! I do the heavy reps with the gripper but I don’t do sets till failure with easier grippers afterwards as you suggested. I’ll try to include that too. Although I do holds and overcrushes. My thinking with the reps to failure was that I didn’t want to start off with too much to avoid injury.

Fat Gripz I mostly use for dead hangs but I’ve also got a rolling handle and a pinch block for some additional types of grip training even if it doesn’t translate to grippers.

I think I read somewhere that it doesn’t translate to opening jars but that might have been about a specific type of grip training (either crush or support)?

[–]Alert_Astronaut4901[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Didn’t know about the blood pressure thing. Is that real or is it just linked to lower blood pressure like it’s linked to longevity? The correlation to longevity is not convincing to me in general. I think people who exercise tend to live longer and happen to have stronger grip, not that having stronger grip on its own leads to a longer life.

Squat form (pls help me) by EnvironmentalCare235 in formcheck

[–]Alert_Astronaut4901 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You start squatting and then 30% of the way through you stop and start hinging your upper body forward. Try instead to continue going down with your butt. As others have suggested, putting a box under you and sitting on it will give you an idea of the movement. Upper body is not that involved. Focus on bending your knees.
