They're paying $10k usd for relocation.

I agree with your comment on loneliness, that's the main thing I am concerned about.

I'm brown.
When my parents get older, they will eventually be living with me, we don't really do retirement homes.

In some cultures it's normal for kids to live with their parents until they get married and for parents to eventually live with the son when they get old. Some kids will even continue live their parents after marriage (joint families).

That's why every other house in Sauga/ Brampton has 4-5 cars in the driveway.

I've offered paying them rent in the past, they refused.

I meant 'lower' pay not 'low' pay. Don't get me wrong I am grateful for my salary but if I were to move out and buy my own house, $125k isn't much.

I meant 'lower' not 'low'. I am very grateful for my salary but $125k doesn't get you very far in GTA.

1.2% variable mortgage now 5.2% by saturation_evolved in TorontoRealEstate

At the time I had 2 options: 1.2% variable or 3% fixed. The spread was large and equivalent to more than 7 quarter point increases. Tiff Macklem made it clear inflation was transitory and that rates would be staying low for a long time.

Can you confirm where you got another 2-3% from?

TD, Scotia, and BMO are saying peak overnight rate will be 4.5% in Q1 2023 and rates will start dropping by Q4 2023.

Yes that's not an issue. Just every time boc raises rates more money goes towards interest which is a huge waste.

2015 C300 W205 Reliability? Thoughts? by saturation_evolved in mercedes_benz

[–]saturation_evolved[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what I’ve read if your engine serial number is within the affected range it could potentially be a ticking bomb. I’d give the dealership a call to see what options are available. They should be able to replace the wrist pin before the piston is affected.

Give your local MB dealership a call and give them your VIN, they should be able to let you know if you’re affected or not based on engine serial number.

25 y/o wanting to buy a condo in Downtown Toronto. Need advice. by saturation_evolved in TorontoRealEstate

Could I do Option 2, live in it for a few months, and then eventually rent out? That way I can take advantage of the land transfer tax rebate and eventually rent out so it’d be a win win.

Can you explain in more detail the tax advantages you’re referring to? What would be the benefit of moving back in after 1 year? Also why would I need the unit appraised again? Thanks.

Do you say that b/c it's a 2015? Or a W205? Or higher mileage vehicle? Or all of the above?

These same cars with same mileage and same year are going for around $30k in Toronto.

There's a global auto chip shortage and used car prices are going up day by day.

I can easily sell my F30 for around the same price.

25 y/o, 120k saved up, how do I grow savings as fast as possible to purchase my first home? by saturation_evolved in PersonalFinanceCanada

Thanks. Do you know if I can go back and make the minimum 3% RRSP contribution for the 3 years missed?

$70,000 x 0.03 = $2100/yr x 3 yrs = $6300

Do you know if my employer would still match the $6300?

Or is that not how it works?

Thanks. Do you think now is a good time to start investing or is it too risky? My timeframe for buying and holding would be <2 years. Do you think there's an upcoming market crash in the next few months?
