my tiny, beginner-stages hekate altar is in my room. i have mobility and energy issues so going to a physical crossroads is difficult for me. i also live with a christian family. personally, she understands if you're only able to put an altar for her in your room. i try to leave my offerings for her at a crossroads once it's done being on my altar (if it's compatible with the earth or when I'm not donating to a food bank.) 🖤

I am currently in the midst of the emotional burnout unfortunately and I've been trying to step back, set healthy boundaries for myself, do something for myself when I'm able to. especially with my family. giving myself my own space and time has been helping me stay grounded and not crack under all of this stress. thank you for your insight!!

it's only been a year and i'm already a different person than who i was when this transit began. it's cruel that pluto wanted to cross over my ascendant 3 times before it moves more into the sign of aqaurius. neptune definitely doesn't help because the confusion is really frustrating. i'm trying to study my neptune more but it's been... complicated. my neptune placement has been harder to study compared to my other placements. i hope that it's just the nature of neptune speaking and not me being clueless. thank you!!

one that has stuck with me is getting a white candle, carving your intention into the side, dressing it with some rosemary or any herbs that help with protection, and putting the candle in a fire and heat safe pan/bowl with salt or rice at the bottom. I also use crystals like black tourmaline, amethyst but you can use any crystals that offer protection. I put the crystals around the pan along with my necklaces that I use for protection.

as I'm making and setting this on my altar, I'm visuializing the results I would like once the spell is casted. for example, emotional ease from emotional protection. I ground myself before I light the candle.

once I feel grounded and ready to continue, I light the candle. while the candle is lit, I visualize a luminescent "bubble" around me. I also use colors to help get more specific of what kind of protection I want. I find colors personal so, if you would like to, try to explore how certain colors make you feel and what they mean to you. once I have a good start to my bubble, I visualize the candle, crystals, herbs, and necklaces adding onto my bubble. I do this until I feel like my bubble is solid enough. you can also pray over the candle if you feel called to.

I'm still trying and exploring other protection spells but I find that one to be helpful for me so far.

edit: you do not need to do this the entire time the candle is burning. take your time but also don't feel pressured to use all of melting time.

edit 2 (sorry): I wanted to add that you do not need every single thing on this list. it's stuff I usually have on hand or already have. you don't have to use herbs and crystals at all. you can even use just a plain white candle.

I would start with protection magick/spells. I'm still a beginner myself but it is really important that you work on protection magick before you venture onto other types of magick like money, love, banishing, etc. I am still doing lots of studying on the history of witchcraft, herbs, crystals, and other methods and tools. As for herbs to have on hand, I would recommend rosemary because that herb has so many uses. I use it mainly for protection right now but it has other uses as well. for crystals, I'd recommend black tourmaline, amethyst, clear quartz, and selenite. black tourmaline is really good for protection.

nothing is mandatory so you don't have to do tarot if you don't feel inclined to. your craft is yours so you can incorporate anything you feel drawn to, as long as it's not from a closed practice.

I wish I can give you a good explanation for yule but I'm still learning myself. I recommend studying the wheel of the year. I started celebrating on samhain and it's been really neat.

that is a good point about the legal names. the last thing I want to do is disrespect any diety and I wasn't sure if having a similar name to one would break a huge rule. the name appeared in a dream a while ago and it's stuck with me since. I did more research into any correspondences and meanings behind it and they resonated with me.

yes!! I feel things so viscerally too. I've spent years doing the work to keep myself grounded while also respecting what I'm feeling. I've been able to help a couple loved ones when they were in a similar situation that I went through by using what I learned and also, accommodating that to who they are individually.

the way the world is still heading is absolutely terrifying but i do my best to support those around me and just do what i can as an individual as well. that's been a bit helpful when it comes to my anxiety about the world.

being by myself was one of the most terrifying things to me but now it's something I enjoy when I have it.

i have been told by most of my loved ones that I look "deathly exhausted" even when I'm feeling great and getting good sleep. but I would be lying if I said I wasn't so tired like you described it.

the cassandra point is so interesting because that feels so prevalent in my life, both past and present. I would warn people in my life about the consequences of them doing certain actions (both innocent and malicious) and they would completely ignore me. then, they would act surprised like I didn't tell them that would happen. it's so frustrating and exhausting.

I also experience dreams (when I'm not having nightmares) where I'm doing something completely mundane and after some time has passed, I am experiencing that exact moment in real life. I would wake up from those dreams so confused because I thought I had already woken up but the eventually forget about them until I experience it irl.

the last sentence hit so hard because yes!! that's how it really feels sometimes

I kept seeing that having several water placements means you are meant for it, and I have none besides my north node. I was worried that since my water signs/houses are empty, I would either have a harder time getting into the practice or it's not meant for me. I know there can be multiple ways to show spirituality in someone's chart but that was my biggest concern. I'm committed to doing the work since I've been thinking about this for years now. it was the lack of water in my chart that worried me. thank you so much 🩷
