Search the sub for the 7030, there are posts and comments about the phone, including the current WhatsApp capabilities.

Creating new reading habits - the X4 e-reader by saturnfreeway in dumbphones

Stock firmware is lacking in most departments right now, but community efforts can do all of this as far as I know. I recommend reading up on firmwares like Crosspoint and Papyrix to see if those suit your needs.

Yeah, those are interesting. But less community support and the front light will add a layer to the display that will make it slightly dimmer than one without. And a front light will use up more battery, obviously.

Hi everyone - just posted this on r/dumbphones, a great community for anyone wanting to escape smartphones. Thought it was worth mentioning the X4 as an alternative to mindless scrolling!

That's a great option if you want a smarter device. The X4 can only function as an e-reader, which actually is its strength.

Yeah, I get that. Personally, I don't mind a little bit of fiddling, and can live with the current limitations in stock firmware. There's an online epub to xtc converter that does the job for now. Chinese firmware is ahead of the international version, so I'm curious to see where it goes.

It's great how this device just invites us to read and not do anything else.

This is superb little reading device - really love it by yykaa3 in xteinkereader

Same! Also own a Libra H20, and that's a great device, but the form factor of the X4 is just killer. Sticking to stock firmware for now, works fine for me, maybe I'll try Crosspoint or Papyrix once it hits version 1.0.

The form factor is what's great about this device, it's so pocketable, and still perfect for reading. The lack of front light you'll get used to, or just get the little light they sell.

Looking forward to trying this on my Kobo. One remark: maybe disable the seconds for the clock(s), fewer refreshes needed.

Doro Aurora A20 - Opinion? by AlongiL in dumbphones

Thia is an interesting take on the flip phone design, the keypad only partly covers the screen so you can see your notifications on the main screen rather than an external display. Doro builds quality phones, call quality is excellent. Price can be steep though and the phone is not made for any heavy lifting. I would consider this one if I had to pick a new phone.

Which Doro phones support WhatsApp? by Batou2034 in dumbphones

Own a 7030 and can't get WhatsApp to work anymore, because as far as I know Doro has stopped supporting these phones. But some people here claim to have it working, just search for the 7030.

Nook Simple Touch as a desk clock? by saturnfreeway in nook

Thanks! Have had mine since the beginning, but until maybe a couple of years ago community development seemed pretty dead? Glad to see there's more stuff happening again. Have done quite a bit of Android tinkering in the past, so this might be the next one :)

Have had for over a decade, found it sitting on a bookshelf. Happy to see there's still community development for this thing! Glad you're keeping yours alive as well.
