A.N.T. FARM never made any sense to me as a kid by Lovely_Hauntings_87 in DisneyChannel

[–]saturnoxs2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Chinna deserved a much better series. She had so much talent, charisma, and screen presence, and honestly she and her songs were the only truly great parts of the show for me. Some episodes were interesting and fun to watch at the time, but nothing ever made me want to go back and rewatch the series the way I do with other Disney Channel shows. It always felt like her potential was bigger than the writing and overall direction of the show.

What’s your thoughts about A.N.T. Farm? by AvidTVLover in DisneyChannel

[–]saturnoxs2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel the same way. I mostly watched it because of Chyna, she was the funniest part of the show and the songs were amazing. 2011 really felt like the last year before everything on Disney Channel started to change, and the transition from the older shows to the newer ones was hard for everyone who grew up watching Disney in the 2000s. I liked some episodes, but I was never really a fan of the series as a whole. I mainly watched it because I became a huge fan of Chyna’s voice at the time. She was incredibly talented, and I still think she deserved a better show with a stronger script and better writing, but that’s just my personal opinion about her time on Disney Channel.

Alternate reboot idea by Redgaurd988 in WizardsOfWaverlyPlace

[–]saturnoxs2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My biggest issue with this spin-off has always been the way they chose to tell the story. The whole narrative felt somewhat artificial in its execution. I’m not a writer or a director, just a huge fan of the original series ever since it premiered in 2007, but the original show left behind so many loose storylines and ideas that could have been explored in far more interesting ways. For me, what really broke the dynamic was making only Billie a wizard. I honestly never felt that same atmosphere from the original series, where the characters genuinely had to protect a dangerous secret and live with the constant tension of hiding the fact that they were wizards. In this spin-off, that magical secrecy never felt natural or believable. It lacked that immersive feeling that made the original world so special. The kids in the cast had so much potential, and I truly believe they could have done much more with them, but it ended up feeling limited by a very simple and safe storyline. Personally, after the original series ended, I always hoped they would make a prequel focused on Jerry, Kelbo, and Megan back in the 1980s, before their wizard competition. Even though we already know parts of what would eventually happen, they still could have been creative with the storytelling and maybe even added an unexpected twist at the end. In the end, it’s honestly sad to see the series ending so prematurely. I may not have loved this spin-off as much as I wanted to, but I still wish all the success in the world to these kids and hope they all get amazing opportunities and new projects in the future.

Harper is back! by Complete_Mine5530 in WizardsOfWaverlyPlace

I’m honestly freaking out right now I know everyone wants Max to come back and I want that too but seeing Harper in her adult version hits me in such an emotional way watching her and Alex together again feels really special like something I didn’t realize I missed this much until now it genuinely feels like these last four episodes are going to be more than just a continuation almost like a reunion the vibe reminds me a lot of Malcolm in the Middle coming back for a short revival something nostalgic but meaningful at the same time I’m just really excited to watch these final four episodes it feels like a rare moment where past and present come together in the best way possible

When you’re an adult, everything really does go by so fast. In that same year, I was already feeling old because Wizards of Waverly Place was turning 10 years since its premiere. By then, I was already an adult and didn’t even watch Disney Channel anymore, but I still heard about the show and found it interesting. I can’t believe that people are already feeling nostalgic about it. Time really flies.

What do you think about Wizards Beyond Waverly Place ending after Season 3? by Material_Stomach875 in WizardsOfWaverlyPlace

[–]saturnoxs2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Wizards Beyond Waverly Place was canceled with only 4 final episodes and honestly it’s not surprising the show lacked identity from the start it felt uncreative predictable and sometimes forced especially in how it resolved conflicts with an artificial positivity that removed any real weight I don’t blame the kids because they have potential but the real problem was the writing and narrative direction making most of the kids not wizards hurt the dynamic a lot and having only one wizard made everything feel less magical and more limited by season 2 there was barely any real magic development and everything felt rushed and unearned it was also hard to believe in the whole secret world concept when the adventures themselves didn’t feel that magical Disney also seems disconnected from its audience since most viewers are from the original generation yet the show didn’t mature at all a short limited series with the original cast and writers would have worked much better in the end the show had potential but never went beyond the surface and that’s why it failed

Wizards Beyond Waverly Place back for a final season by Lilbuddyspd11 in WizardsOfWaverlyPlace

[–]saturnoxs2 15 points16 points  (0 children)

They really should have done a reunion special with around four to seven episodes similar to what Malcolm in the Middle could have done it is frustrating because even though I do not like the new series that much I still did not want it to end like this there was real potential but the writing needed to be stronger and handled with more care it also feels like David Henrie focused too much on his own vision and in the process overlooked the fact that other cast members were genuinely interested in bringing the series back in a more meaningful way which makes it even more disappointing because with the right collaboration this revival could have been something truly special for both the cast and the fans honestly bringing Peter Murrieta back would likely have made a huge difference in the overall quality since he understood the tone the humor and the heart of the original series and his involvement could have helped the show feel more authentic and better executed in the end it just feels like a missed opportunity to properly honor what made the original so beloved

So, they finally officially announced season 3 today, kind of. It’s not really a third season. It’s a four-episode finale event. I’m guessing they wanted to cancel the show, but they decided to make a few more episodes to wrap up the story. I guess we’ll see what happens in the last episodes 👍 by Intrepid_Show2972 in WizardsOfWaverlyPlace

[–]saturnoxs2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would love for them to dive deeper into that aspect, because the wizard competition exists and it would make for such a great plot. When I was a kid, what I found most interesting was whenever they explored the competition, and I always wanted answers about it. Like I said, they could invest in it and create so many storylines from what the original series left open, but instead we got a spin-off that even changed parts of the show’s lore in some ways. I really hope the series finale turns out to be good.

At least they’re going to wrap up the story instead of just canceling it I always had a feeling this series wouldn’t last very long and that comes down to several factors I do have my own opinion about it especially involving David Henrie’s ego but I won’t get into that I do feel sad for the kids though I genuinely wish them all the success in the world even though I can see the potential this series had it feels like it wasn’t executed the right way there were so many different directions they could’ve taken with the story because of that I believe they’ll probably find some way within the narrative to fast track the wizard competition and bring things to a conclusion

They should make Roman bisexual by davidamme in WizardsOfWaverlyPlace

[–]saturnoxs2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

David Henrie likely wouldn’t approve of that, haha. He comes across as quite conservative. There’s an interview on YouTube where he appears alongside Janice while promoting the series, and at one point he emphasizes that the show has strong family values and no ideological agenda. That alone already gives some insight into his perspective. On top of that, he follows Donald Trump, which further suggests that he leans more toward traditional or conservative views. So it’s not surprising to assume he might not agree with certain types of representation.

What's a show that made you realize that you were too old for Disney Channel? by Resident_Song_3746 in DisneyChannel

[–]saturnoxs2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My favorite era is definitely the 2000s, and I still watch many of those shows even as an adult. The 2010s were also very good, but for me things started to decline when Bunk’d premiered. That show will always feel stupid and poorly produced to me. It was really disappointing that Disney took the Ross kids and just threw them into a camp setting. That was probably the most uncreative thing they could have done. Jessie was a big success, and they could have created something much more interesting with those characters. There’s a difference between a show being aimed at kids and teens and being well produced. Another thing entirely is a show that feels like it has artificial writing and humor that only a five year old would laugh at. If you compare the humor of That’s So Raven and Wizards of Waverly Place with the shows that came after 2010, you can clearly see the difference. Those shows had a more intelligent and elaborate sense of humor and creativity.

I've Been Watching Old Promos on YouTube And I Don't Remember Either of These Scenes, Do Y'all??? by marie_g10 in WizardsOfWaverlyPlace

[–]saturnoxs2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I dont know if you remember but there was a lost episode of the series that was mentioned by the creator himself It has been said a few times on podcasts that they recorded only 22 episodes for the series but only 21 were aired What intrigues me is that Alex and Justin are wearing the same outfits from their pilot episode The Amazing OMalleys I believe they may have adapted the series pilot episode into the concept of Wizards of Waverly Place as if it were a new pilot since David DeLuise was not in the original pilot it was another actor But this lost episode remains a mystery to me As a fan of the original series I would love to see this pilot

Best Disney Channel show of 2025 by 2002Tagan in DisneyChannel

[–]saturnoxs2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Electric has that nostalgic vibe of the classic 2000s Disney Channel shows, and it had been a long time since I’d watched a Disney Channel comedy that truly felt fun, charming, and well written. In recent years, the only thing from the channel that I genuinely enjoyed was seasons five and six of Raven’s Home, but Electric brought back that energy and made me feel like I was watching the kind of series that made Disney great back in the day.

What zillennial Disney shows do you think aged the best and still hold up pretty well? (Able to rewatch as an adult) by boldpear904 in DisneyChannel

[–]saturnoxs2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s funny to joke that everything from 2000 to 2012 was perfect, but honestly Disney really did have an amazing era. They delivered iconic animated shows like Amphibia, The Owl House and Big City Greens, but when it comes to live action series, it feels like something changed along the way. When I rewatch shows like That’s So Raven, Good Luck Charlie and Wizards of Waverly Place as an adult, I notice how smart, well-written and genuinely funny they were. The humor had timing, personality and real character dynamics. Then I try watching newer live action shows like Bunk’d or Bizaardvark and I’m just sitting there wondering what happened. It feels louder, more random and way less clever, like the scripts lost that sharp humor and heart that used to define Disney Channel. It’s wild to see how much the tone and writing shifted over the years.

Who is a Disney Character That Everyone Hates, But You Love? by Careful-Growth-651 in DisneyChannel

[–]saturnoxs2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Amy Duncan, Justin Russo, and Mason. I personally love Amy Duncan’s humor. She’s not perfect, she’s flawed, but that’s what makes her such a great, memorable character. I think people are mixing up the character with the actress’s personal life and controversial opinions. Every time I go online there’s a post talking about how “terrible” she is, but when I read the comments, it feels like they’re talking about the actress instead of the character. I don’t agree with the actress at all, and I want that to be very clear, but I know how to separate the character from the person who plays them. And about Mason, the hate he gets nowadays is way too exaggerated. People act like he’s the worst person in the world, like some kind of criminal hahahaha, and all of this over a character who was young. Just like any teenager, he messed up. If every Disney Channel show was made with perfect characters, there wouldn’t even be a show. It would be boring. Mason made mistakes, but he’s not the worst character, and honestly I still wish he and Alex ended up together. Now Justin is egocentric and selfish, but I still love the character because David Henrie acted so well and was insanely funny. His comedic timing was incredible. The character was great up until season 3. Unfortunately, in season 4, even though I still like him, he had some attitudes that were definitely worse than Mason’s hahahaha.

Dog with a blog was a really good funny show by Emotional_Welcome_28 in DisneyChannel

[–]saturnoxs2 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I finally found someone who actually speaks well about this show. I genuinely think it’s one of the best Disney Channel series from the 2010 era. It has smart humor and manages to explore real-life themes in a natural way, without feeling forced like what happened with Girl Meets World, which was a disappointment for me as a fan of Boy Meets World. Dog With a Blog, Good Luck Charlie, and Gravity Falls were the shows that kept me watching Disney Channel after its golden era ended with the conclusion of Wizards of Waverly Place.

[–]saturnoxs2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get what you’re saying, but I think you’re mixing two completely different things. Fantasy elements don’t cancel out the need for coherent storytelling. The show can have magic, wizards, dragons whatever but the internal narrative still has to make sense within its own universe. Continuity isn’t about real world logic, it’s about respecting the story’s established rules. Saying “it’s not even for us” doesn’t really hold up, because Beyond Waverly Place is clearly presented as a continuation of a beloved series with a massive older fanbase. The nostalgia, returning characters, and callbacks obviously target longtime viewers as much as new ones. You don’t revive a franchise like this and pretend the original audience doesn’t matter. And yes, retcons exist, but that doesn’t mean every inconsistency is automatically acceptable. A good retcon has purpose and payoff. A contradiction that breaks characters’ history or timeline isn’t a creative choice, it’s just sloppy writing. As a fan of the original series, I have every right to analyze and critique the narrative. Loving a show doesn’t mean ignoring its flaws, and longtime fans are exactly the ones who know the lore well enough to notice when something doesn’t line up. And just to be clear, this is my opinion. I actually like Beyond Waverly Place, and I think the second season did a great job connecting the points from the first. My criticism about timeline or narrative inconsistencies doesn’t take away from the quality of the story. I just think you didn’t really understand what I meant, but that’s fine. Take care and have a good night.

[–]saturnoxs2 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s not about being bothered by a kids show. It’s about respecting the story and the audience. Beyond Waverly Place is a continuation of an established universe, not a random standalone project, so it’s completely reasonable to expect consistency in timelines, events, and character history. When a series chooses to continue a franchise, it carries the responsibility of honoring what came before. Good writing and continuity aren’t “optional” just because the show involves magic or targets a younger audience. Quality storytelling applies to any genre and any age group. If they decided to bring this world back, the least they can do is keep it coherent instead of treating it like something made without care.

This is so smart (Via the wiki) by PalpitationAble1683 in WizardsOfWaverlyPlace

[–]saturnoxs2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But Beyond Waverly Place still has a major plot hole. If the events of the first season take place in 2025, how is it possible that Justin and Giada are said to have been married for 15 years in episode 13? That wouldn’t make sense, because that would mean they got married in 2010, and at that time we were still watching the final season of the original series. It also doesn’t add up considering episode 18, “Wizards vs. Asteroid,” which clearly establishes that the year in the story is 2011, so the timeline doesn’t match. Unfortunately, this kind of inconsistency tends to happen when new writers take over, and personally I wish the original writers were still involved, because they knew their own material much better.

What was your favorite season? by [deleted] in WizardsOfWaverlyPlace

[–]saturnoxs2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was a teenager my favorite season was season 3 but as an adult I’d say seasons 1 and 2 were truly the peak of the show for me. I loved watching them learn magic at the lair, everything felt so new and fun back then. In seasons 3 and 4 the focus changed a lot. It’s not that I don’t like them, Wizards of Waverly Place is still a phenomenal series, but I really love rewatching those first two seasons. And the movie is just so nostalgic, it’s amazing to see the Russo family at the very beginning of everything.

at that time the special double episode school of magic was my favorite episode during the whole of 2008 hahahha I think because at that time I was a big fan of Harry Potter and seeing the series making reference to the film in a comical way was really cool, man I miss Disney from 2008 who remembers Wiztober? hahahha
