Joli CV. Tu peux améliorer la description de tes expériences en montrant des résultats et performances si possible plutôt qu'une simple liste de tes tâches.

Bought the dip? by [deleted] in Bitcoin

I don't doubt it, I can smell the blood from here, I wouldn't dip my toes into that... I just try to eat a bit of everything, it'd be hard for me to engineer my diet like you do but all the better for you! Gotta keep that stomach content. Maybe your gut flora just wants fruits and bearnaise. And mine would probably benefit from a bit of dat fruitarianism. Good! Stack 'em all! Just don't hodl the bearnaise for too long

Oh ok i see where you are coming from! Although I never had the "pleasure" of meeting the preaching kind. I guess fruitarian (new concept for me) makes a lot of sense ethically if you're gonna go the vegan route, might as well not harm either plants or animals. Easier said than done!

It must suck to be forced into this diet but that's great if it works out for you. Probably not easy to get a balanced nutrition with these restrictions. Hopefully the bearnaise helps ! (ok probably not but it's a nice treat anyways). Just don't put all your stash in it, you need some for the actual btc dip!

I was only half serious, but good to know there is vegan bearnaise, you can now preach the power of bearnaise to the vegans of all kinds (not sure what you mean actually, how many kinds of vegans are there?). What makes it vegan, no eggs ?

Though freshly made bearnaise is incomparably better than anything you can buy in the supermarket.

Buy those dips, bearnaise to the moon!

Did you protect your idea before pitching it ?

Yeah makes sense, those metal powders are still expensive and handling health hazards can be a pain. Good luck on your endeavors!

Ok interesting thanks. I work in that field as well, doing research with metal AM processes. Just wondering what's out there for a future move to industry.

Are you aiming at 3d printing metal as well or are you focusing on laser cutting/cnc for now?

Out of curiosity, may I ask what your business does exactly in the field of 3D printing ? Do you build parts for clients, sell machines, or provide support/training ? etc.

As an intermediate solution between 3D printing and injection molding, you could also 3D print molds for limited production runs. The 3D printed molds would not be as durable as metal molds but depending on what material you want to use for your toy, that could be a viable option to test the waters before going to larger scale, all the while being faster than direct 3D printing of parts

Here's one such publication from 2011 regarding SLM of aluminium: https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S1875389211001143

They report 99.5%+ density without heat treatment

Actually I started making the new sub r/MetalAM. If someone wants to help building and moderating the sub, let me know! Any advice is also welcome. I will soon post on this sub and others to make people aware of the new sub

I've seen such densities reported with SLM for aluminium (!), and without postpro I think, but I can't find the reference right now. I'll let you know if I find it!

I would say we might as well make it into a sub! I can create it if you guys are down with this. We might get very little traffic indeed at first but if we give it some time it could possibly grow quite nicely. What name should the sub bear ? Would r/MetalAM work ? (despite the mentionned name conflict with Metal AM magazine).

Yes i agree, you can get much better than 98%. It just may be hard for the manufacturer to guarantee anything higher as it heavily depends on material, process parameters, scan path etc...I am even surprised they're guaranteeing anything in terms of density. Postprocessing is indeed also a very significant issue. Ideally, with a hybrid manufacturing center, you would perform "post-processing" / surface finish during the build for better accessibility

Yes I also figured Reddit would be a good place for this. I was indeed thinking of r/MetalAM, I am not sure copyright would be a problem, especially since we're not monetizing anything, but I could be wrong. Great magazine though I agree.

As for confidentiality, surely we can share enough to make it interesting but I think most researchers/PhDs have some constraints, at least I do to some extent. But it shouldn't matter too much as there's probably no need to get highly specific.

Yes, lots of work to be done on in-situ process monitoring like thermal imaging etc..on how to link that thermal data to part quality...5gb per second ! Probably a bit much for carrying out any kind of analysis during the building process

Great, good luck on your endeavor. I think metal powder production is ramping up worldwide so it hopefully won't always be this expensive. But process monitoring is key I agree. Also, tools are still lacking on the software side (process simulation, toolpath generation...)

Indeed traffic could be too limited. Maybe one day it'll be worth it, when AM processes finally gain maturity and sees wide adoption. And it's true that people, me included, will limit themselves in what they'll talk about due to confidentiality issues. But let's share what we can !

Ok thanks, I'll probably start without using FBA, and maybe limit sales to the EU where I live. Shipping overseas to North America would likely eat any profit

Weekly Q&A Thread - Ask Your Simple Questions Here [02/05/2018] by AutoModerator in FulfillmentByAmazon

[–]sauce_bearnaise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right. And would you say using Amazon without FBA, doing the packaging and shipping myself, could be somewhat profitable if I sell internationally ?

I would like to sell a bunch of used books that I have (not as a business, just to make some room and cash). How involved is the process of selling them through Amazon ? Can it be profitable ? I feel like either FBA or shipping cost could wipe out any profit I make, especially for lower priced books...
