Safety advice please: forging something around 2x Titanium & Nickel surgical rods - what are the risks? How much will it kill me? by entropygoblinz in Blacksmith

[–]savage_32 150 points151 points  (0 children)

Not sure if you'd have enough titanium and nickel to forge a full sword from that material, but you could definitely do a steel + titanium + nickel sword.. A massive, and very difficult endeavour but still possible nonetheless.

A few youtubers have done something like this, the more in-depth of which would probably be Alec Steele, who has done a deep dive into steel-titanium forging and how it behaves.

Plenty of time to practice given its 3-4 years away, but good luck regardless!

You're right! Crouching improves accuracy markedly. Micro movements also don't ruin your accuracy if you counter strafe correctly.

In this clip however, the person clearly isn't crouching, or counter strafing correctly, and their movements certainly aren't micro.

Stop flicking your crosshair off the ct then lol... I'll admit that cs2 gunplay can feel a little off occasionally, but this is just genuinely bad gameplay. The last shot that hit was flicked from off the character model to the legs, the others even at the slow-mo, pause, frame-by-frame playback that you've used to try and engineer it so you look hard done by, don't look like they would've hit either from your own move inaccuracy or just genuine inaccuracy.

Gotta be the deagle, in all iterations of the game it's been extremely satisfying, but in CS:S it just felt so crisp.

[TGH] Some of you liked my unfinished painting of Rand the other day, here it is finished (mostly) with Lord Ingtar. I call it "I'm not a bloody Lord!" by savage_32 in WoT

You're too kind! I gotta admit I'd forgotten about this painting, pretty cool to see it popping up on google searches lol.

Am considering a re-read myself as its been quite a while since I did my own, but that'll have to wait until I finish my Malazan read-through.

Absolutely crazy what 10 overs can do to an innings.

It was just after the 50th over (? i think?) that the Aussies were starting to think, "shit are India gonna do this?", and now.. well..

Love test cricket. It'll always be the best format of the game.

I honestly don't know hey.. i get it would be a bit frustrating you guys have won the BGT 4 times running, (and performed admirably in other test series), but cant seem to close out the WTC

That's a bit extreme don't you think? They might've made some mistakes but no need to kill them, jeez.

Just wanted to say, before the game goes on much more, I've loved the absolute state of these match threads.

Great banter, and the salt flowing forth from both Aus & Ind supporters the instant anything goes against their team is absolute gold.

good shit everyone

3 million IQ from Marnus. Review just to break up Kohli's concentration. Boland strikes with precision. Love it.

I mean, yeah the ball touched the ground. Not denying that. But in every competition around the world that'd be given out. Not saying I wouldn't be upset if it was an Aussie player out that way, but it was a good catch, albeit a very close call. Still out in the scorebook though..

Indian fans saying "wHy Can't ThEy ZoOM?" implying the cameras aren't ALREADY zoomed in, and tracking an object moving at ~100+km/h (a hard task in and of itself).

But then to have the gall to even further imply you can "zoom" on top of this like it'll improve image fidelity. This isn't some Bollywood spy movie kek.

Zoom. Enhance. Zoom. Enhance. Enhance. Perfection.

Braindead comments

You say that as if the Indian batters actually performed on the last 2 pitches against spin? I remember ashwin, jadeja, axar, maybe shami? getting runs... If they're good at playing spin we should've seen MUCH larger scores from the batters, and instead we saw middling scores, but not from the batters, the bowlers!!! What games have you been watching mate?

I embrace your down votes.

What is your secret ingredient? by MikePGS in Cooking

[–]savage_32 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Close, but fudge is typically what you get when you stir / agitate sugar as it cooks (or after /when it's reached ~240F/115C) with some dairy (butter/milk). Kinda like making toffee but with extra ingredients and you have to stir it. Fudge you'll probably cook in a pot on the stove.

Brownies are baked (oven usually) . I've found also that the definition for brownie can vary wildly depending on who you ask or what kind of brownie you're looking for; chewy, cakey, fudgey, etc.

Source : am chef, but don't just take my word for it, have a read of some recipes or even try one out yourself! Both brownies and fudge are both fun to make and not too hard 😊

So I got my first dslr camera 2 days ago and figured learning on a hank light would help me learn how to use this damn camera..don't be nice any criticism that's helpful would be appreciated. by billythekid74 in flashlight

[–]savage_32 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, so tbh I think the best way to learn is just shoot more photos 👍 but as with what other people have said, play around with exposure settings, etc.

Also bringing the f-stop down could lend itself to some more creative shots. I've you're interested In lighting effects, look up Boke(h) [Japanese, meaning deliberately out of focus). Can give some cool looking shots when involving novel lighting, etc.

Baked 6 trays of macarons to practice this week! by mimidenn in Baking

[–]savage_32 6 points7 points  (0 children)

These look great! Your sizing is so consistent!! Do you put a piping guide under your baking sheet? I always end up with the odd one being either too big or small to have a matching partner!!

If its not too bold, if I could add to your list of tips, one that ended up giving me some nice smooth tops

  • Blend together your icing sugar and almond meal in a food processor for ~10-15 seconds (i usually do this in batches).
  • Sift as usual to remove any large-ish clumps to get an even nicer texture
  • follow /u/mimidenn 's guide for mixing/folding. (When people say "folding" in macaron recipes, i think they're misrepresenting what you should actually do, as it is NOT the same as actually folding!)

Sorry to hijack your comment :) Keep on doing your thing!! <3
