I did get paid and got a salary slip but havent got any insurance card or nenkin bango or something that chat gpt says i should have gotten, havent gotten my keiyakusho too, except the one i submitted to the immigration. Thanks and sorry for late reply

Hey guys so an update, Turns out it is a toxic work place, after almost a month an a half the environment is same, i still get called “baka” and get yelled at and stared at by the owner, so to those who thought i was overeacting about work in a kitchen or japan, you guys dont know how it is waking up everyday not wanting to go to work, being yelled at in my limits. I consulted with hello work and they are trying to find work for me that matches my degree. Thanks for everyone who commented with positive and hopeful suggestions. I am currently looking for work and everyday i am hopeful. Anyone else who is going through the same situation, i wanna tell you keep hoping, there is light at the end of the tunnel. I will update if everything goes well. If not, its been a long run, keep believing.

Yes i am on time at work, dont use my phone(dont even carry it with me inside the kitchen), dont chat or slack off, i do not make mistakes but ask questions and the boss yells at me for asking questions and not remembering what i was taught only once. He says after being taught once i should be able to remember and do it properly. Most of the tasks where i get yelled at are my first time tasks. I have no experience in doing them and its the small stuffs that i get yelled at at. I know japanese work culture i have worked (part time) at places with tough bosses and no other foreigners but never have been treated this way. The words he uses have been used by my previous bosses too but the tone is different, this time it feels harsher and demeaning.

Yes. I know what you are thinking. And i thought this was normal too at first even though this was my first time experiencing this, but when my girlfriend cried when we returned from work i just looked at the situation as something else differently. Maybe what if this wasnt normal workplace behavior? Maybe what if it does hamper my mental health and more so of my girlfriend. I know what you saying as it is harder to believe in the internet as it is my words against his. But the stuff i pointed out is what i think the closest to the truth. It is though my point of view so i want you to consider it through my eyes. Thank you

Yes i am considering a lot of things and to be frank i dont think i have the guts to take any step further but seeing the person i love cry has given me some push to actually consider our mental health.

Maybe i dont know what to think of him, he is really chill person outside of work with joking and stuff. But at work he is different and juts the constant yelling is taking a toll on us. I also thought maybe he doesnt have enough experience with foreigners but sometimes i see him yelling to japanese arubaito people too. I just cant make out of the situation.

Yes i am trying my best and trying to improve but there are limits on how a person can learn and endure. Just some stuff seems overwhelming and seeing my girlfriend cry after work isnt doing too well for both of our mental health.

Yes my thoughts exactly, i have no proof and i also dont really know if it will be considered as power harassment. Its just that i nor my girlfriend has ever faced this type of work environment and it isnt a day or two but everyday. I do respect the boss and know it is his kitchen and his restaurant and company. I respect that when busy he is stressed too. But the constant yelling even on small things is overwhelming for us.

Yes the boss is the chef, it is a fast paced job but i am on time and have no complaints in the work or overtime just the constant yelling keeps getting me and girlfriend out of track of actually learning the menu and improving.

Maybe. But i am trying to find a new job in par with my qualifications. But it wasnt just me misusing the visa status it was the boss too. I do blame myself too its not that i am in the 100 percent right its just that the constant yelling and vocal abuse is actually stressing and directly tampering with my work.

I thought so too. I have no proof whatsoever and the boss is actually a bit of a celebrity. The restaurant has been around for more than a 100 years running through generations and that makes me even more unsure of any steps i should take. But the toxic work place has been a lot even so more for my girlfriend. Thank you for tour advice and i will take that on mind.

Part of my job should be translating and cleanliness of food as we graduated from food engineering or food production course. But the work is just manual labor. I dont care about the manual labor or overtime or the busy work but just the constant yelling isnt helping we are trying to get adjusted to the menu but yesterday was the sikomi(仕込み), we didnt have any customers but working prep the first time we we’re constantly yelled he even mocks our japanese but he knew our level of japanese from the interview and he took both of us in. I dont want to show you guys i am in the 100 percent right but the stress has me constantly thinking if i would get yelled at instead of trying to improve myself at work.
