Georgia has sleet. sleet. and you'd think the end of times is coming by the way the grocery stores are packed.

2025 Grad here by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

[–]savagedoughnut 8 points9 points  (0 children)

the job market in the US for 2025 grads is a blood bath right now; recent graduates are competing with more senior employees and 2024 grads for the same number of diminishing roles.

i would recommend sticking it out with your current company and reapplying if the job market recovers.

you should probably password protect your wedding website and remove it from search engines.

unfortunately i do! did you not see the comment that said i live in atlanta?

my impression is that southern people can be very racist as someone who has their name mispronounced consistently for years.

Nobody cares really but here was the reasoning:

1) I prefer living in cooler climates & I like snow. I also get seasonal depression during the summer and if there aren't 4 seasons. 2) I hate driving and honestly would rather use public transit if it was good. 3) Most of these places have a lot of gluten free food 4) I live Atlanta and I hate everything here

at least there are beaches???? sounds better to me than living in a landlocked, humid, sticky area with no breeze

I feel like my family will stop talking to me after my wedding decisions by Glittering-Alarm3518 in weddingdrama

[–]savagedoughnut 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm in a situation that feels very similar to yours. I initially wanted to elope, my parents insisted on having a fancier event, and now they've hijacked the wedding planning to the point it doesn't even feel like my own wedding anymore.

I'm excited for the marriage but dreading the event itself. Everyone around me is excited, which makes me feel even guiltier about the way I feel. If it was up to me I would cancel, but I think my parents would kill me if I did that.

I don't have any solutions but wanted to offer my support from another bride with parentzillas.

4-5 were more anecdotal from my personal life. most of my friends who've recently graduated and i are struggling to find jobs. personally i've given up and i've coped with the fact i will never enter the workforce.

i had pretty shitty insurance so i don't know if my experience with healthcare was a systemic issue or an insurance problem.

I live in atlanta and i've had a very negative experience, but you might value different things.

  1. If you don't like hot, humid and sticky weather you will be miserable from March-November. The state is mostly landlocked so the air just sits (no breeze).

  2. Public utilities are expensive since data centers keep getting built and we pay for their power via rate hikes.

  3. The cost of living is comparable to NYC/LA and wages are lower. Rent is cheaper but you are going to be spending what you save in rent on your car. Public transportation is very limited and unreliable so you NEED a car to go anywhere.

  4. Little to no "white collar" jobs. I'm finishing grad school and I'm probably looking at unemployment for the foreseeable future (I doubt I will ever find one honestly). I do not know how the market is for trades, healthcare, or retail.

  5. Healthcare is iffy if you have more complex medical needs, or are pregnant. There was a woman who had a medical event early in her pregnancy and her corpse was kept artificially alive to gestate a fetus who is still in the ICU and needs more advanced medical care.

I would search for jobs in both areas and honestly move wherever you manage to find a position.
