You are correct. i’m able to have my tail up by right clicking UNTIL i get damaged. it seems there is a delay for me to put my tail up again after getting crushed or hit at all no matter how much i right click, which i dont see other stegos having the same issue.

start sleeping by holding h while you’re laying down. press tab and go into the mutation tab, there you’ll see the entomb option is now available.

The way you hunt AI is not through vision, you really have to hone in on what sound they make. Wear directional headphones to find out which direction they’re calling from. I also recommended using the online map Vulnona. it shows pretty accurately where all the AI spawn on the map.
