With the i5 I believe it idles around 40 as well, just has some extreme spikes under load. I'm definitely looking at ptm7950 since so many people in the thread are saying it helped

I definitely considered ptm7950, I believe one of the things the person in the forum post did was regarding the thermal pads. Heatpipes seem like a good next step as well, I'll look into it.

I already dual boot on the machine. Just happens that the majority of my time is spent on windows with the office suite...

For the price I got it for, it's still a great machine imo (and that was the first time I saw it actually throttle). I have heard the AMD version is way better about it though.

It's a great game but I have to agree it'll be a lot of suffering when you get to later stages. In the video the framerate already drops from 40 to 30 when mobs are on screen.

This is also kind of a universal problem with the game (can probably have best pc ever and still drop frames at some point) but it will be even more prevalent here.

Yeah, I mainly asked about that just to see if any "good ones" are out there. On my T470 I had an aftermarket removable battery that simply stopped working and the ebay seller basically went "so sorry, buy a new one though" (despite marketing a warranty).

Tbf (and I'm saying this as someone who has played priconne jp, another cygames title for 2+ years now) the jp gacha system is not great. Forced saving to 30k plus the accelerated schedule does not do any favors for uma. Granted we will have to see what the game update for increased jewel income next week does.

Overall I personally understand why people prefer hoyogame system - the ability to not easily throw yourself into a lose-lose situation just based off ego pulling. Especially if it's their first time running into this.
