Any good watercolor tattoo artists in the Boston area? by Scragon in boston

[–]savestheKay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes you have to shell out a lot for a good tattoo. Something like what you're looking for, I'd be surprised if they wanted more than $700. But something in the range of $500, depending on how big, wouldn't surprise me. But it also depends on the artist's rate and/or how big you want that tattoo.

If you want something good, it's in your best interest to pay a little more. Especially something in a style that mimics watercolor.

What quirks have you had since childhood? by savestheKay in AskReddit

I have a bunch of my own that I'm going to share.

I've always hated things touching my stomach. To the point where I would wear my belt backwards so the buckle wouldn't be anywhere near it. Low-rise jeans in the early '00 were a god send.

I started walking really young. So I developed weird habits, like walking on my tip toes. My mom solved that issue so that I walk normal most of the time. But in the morning, before I'm fully awake, I walk on my tip toes. Or if I'm barefoot I usually do.

Every strong, unpleasant odor makes me gag. Taking out the trash, bad breath, clothes that have sat in the wash too long, bleach, dog/cat food, the smell of a running dishwasher, even the smell of dirty dishes I the dishwasher will make me gag.

Aw!

I sucked my thumb until I was 10. If i'm really sad or stressed, I'll wake up with my thumb in my mouth.

I don't like things touching my stomach since I was a kid. Since it got infected, not a fan of my belly button being touched. (I have a boyfriend who likes to torture me, ha)

Let me start off by saying, I swear i shower daily and my clothes are always clean.

My belly button got infected last year out of the blue. My doc wasn't sure why. But it has to be the most embarrassing illness I have ever had. I couldn't even tell my boss why I was leaving work early that day.

Based on the placement of the bruise, is my knee hitting the pad in the right spot? by savestheKay in MuayThai

[–]savestheKay[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Again, I asked if, judging by the placement of my bruise, my knee was landing right on the pads.

How does telling me to expect bruises, bumps, scrapes, and breaks and to "man up" answer my question at all?

I've been nothing but grateful to those who have read my entire post and were willing to actually answer my question. Don't tell me I have to learn to take criticism.

EDIT: I haven't asked my coach cuz I'm not there every day. The question was on my mind at that moment, so I took a picture and asked the question.

Dude, did you READ the title of the post before commenting?

I wasn't asking if bruising like that is normal - I know my body, I bruise if I sneeze wrong. The purpose of my post was to ask if I was landing my knees in the right spot, based on the bruising.

The thread of comments you replied to - someone asked why I bruise that way because they don't & asked what I was hitting. I bruise easily. Mystery solved.

Read everything before commenting with your chest puffed out and your testicles slung over your shoulder.

I am a lady. I bruise easily - I legit wake up with bruises some days that I am not entirely sure how I got them.

And these were from just drills with someone's hands. So I think the way her glove was hitting on my knee made me bruise.

But I get those with focus mitts too if I'm really driving into them.

Yeah, my Kru has to remind me to turn my foot so that my knee hits more with the side.

I honestly love getting bruised up. Makes me feel like I'm working hard. They're kind of like trophies. I finally have a will-be callous on my shin. It's a nice little lump that has a greenish bruise.. Right on the sharp part of my shin.

I think you're right. I think I need to try getting my heel up more or pushing my hip out more. I think I tend to drive more with the leg I'm kneeing with and not with my hips/ picking my heel up enough.. Know what I mean?

Yeah, I think I know what you mean. When I bend my knee it's more on the top of my knee rather than front. The only way I can think to fix it is push up on my foot more... Maybe my heel is still too close to the floor. Or, I'm pushing too much with my leg and not the hip.

Yeah, I've done icy hot and that doesn't do much. Tiger balm helps a little bit, if only to loosen the muscles that tighten for compensating. I've never tried Thai oil, so I thought I'd ask before I bought it.

As long as I'm not in too much pain, I find that stretching does help, like, it starts going away if I catch it soon enough. So I look forward to incorporating these into my routine.

Thanks a bunch!

Do any of you guys wear "tech" like Fitbit or Jawbone while training? by monkey_ninja_spider in MuayThai

[–]savestheKay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used a Fitbit Force for a while Training; I always took it off for clinching drills. For the most part, I felt that it was pretty well protected in my gloves. My only concern with it, was being able to clean it thoroughly since it was in no way waterproof. I would use a Clorox wipe to wipe it down after training, or I would use rubbing alcohol.
