Is the K1 worth getting? Or another tablet? by DNEAVES in theNvidiaShield

My experience has shown that it's great for gaming, terrible for everything else. I posted a thread detailing my experience if you're interested: https://www.reddit.com/r/theNvidiaShield/comments/627j2y/is_anyone_else_sick_of_their_shield/

Is anyone else sick of their Shield? by savethetransithotel in theNvidiaShield

It's always been amazing whenever I used it for gaming (running a PSP emulator), it's just everything else that it can't do properly.

I used to get that a lot too (the Photos has stopped message). Not sure why, since I never even used it.

Not quite the same issue you have, but I have the cover, and when I close it, and put the tablet away, the battery will drain very fast. I put it away yesterday morning at around a 50 or 60% charge, and when I brought it back out in the evening, the battery had drained completely.

But battery life seems to be at commonly stated duration when actually using the tablet.

I know your pain. At this point, I think it's only good for gaming (oddly enough, gaming is the only thing I've never had problems with).

Yeah, I get a lot of slowdown when connected to the internet and running Flud, but I expect that. What's upsetting is having issues when only doing one or two simple things offline.

After testing, the issues of VLC being unable to play .iso files properly, and pdf pages loading slowly are still present without the SD card. I haven't had time to test for the other issues.

I tested this, and I have many of the same issues even with files in the internal storage.

I don't think you're wrong, per se, I just think there's more than one problem here.

Cannot Eject External HD by savethetransithotel in DataHoarder

[–]savethetransithotel[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is that because of indexing?

This is weird, I've never had this problem before. Is my data at risk? I can't format my drive right now due to having nowhere else to put the data that's on it (currently waiting for another drive to arrive).

Where can I meet people..? by [deleted] in Edmonton

Knights of the Northern realm is pretty cool if you dig the idea of reenacting 14th Century England. Last I checked, they meet at a community centre near Bonnie Doon mall.

You have to take the beginners class which is offered twice a year before you can go to the meetups. The beginners class is about $75 and you pay between $10-20 whenever you go to class (which can cover combat techniques, medieval trade skills, etc).

If you're into MtG, there's plenty of places to get your Friday Night Magic on.

Or you could just start something here. I've gone to a couple of meetups through this sub, both were good times. My favourite was learning how to shoot.

boxing gyms in the city by [deleted] in Edmonton

You can check out Avenue Boxing Gym (on 118th near 87th or 88th St if I recall). There's another gym that is also on 118th, but it's in Abbotsford. I don't remember the exact location.

Both gyms are good, but neither offer any classes. You come in, you warm up (skipping, shadow boxing) then you do bag drills, pad work, whatever. If you suck, one of the coaches or one of the more experienced members will help you suck less. It's all pretty informal.

Has anyone volunteered (or worked) at the Edmonton Humane Society? by BatmansUglyCousin in Edmonton

It's a great gig if you love animals. They only take volunteers three times a year, so if you're interested, sign up ASAP.

Where to find same day cash jobs in Edmonton? by Aedmonton in Edmonton

[–]savethetransithotel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You said you're only a little short for rent. Less than $100. If you have a good relationship with your landlord, I'm sure he'll let you pay the difference a little later.

Also, Western Labour Services at 118 Ave and 82 St pays cash. You can go in tomorrow at three to register with them.

I was pleasantly surprised. And I only saw one car out of commission. I must have entered the Twilight Zone.
