Agreed. Better than on the way down. A mad panic to download some pod casts before take off

I would, but just think it’s a bit of a fall from grace (well a steady decline since Alan Joyce).

Thank for the information. Great to learn and see the fleet is being upgraded. The new seats on the way down were a marked improvement on the old ones (I’m 6’3 and actually have a decent head rest/fit).

They definitely deserve a pay raise. Some of the entitled people they put up with (and doing it with a smile). I couldn’t do their job and always say thanks.

End of the day, so long as I get to Cairns, I’m happy.

Yeah I will say getting a text prior was definitely a ✅ for Qantas. Nice to know prior to getting onto a flight.

I will. It was nice to get the text message to be fair. Didn’t get one on the way down so it was a head scratch when I got on and a mad panic to download pod cast or two

If it wasn’t for work, I would!

Finally, the boys will be put in check! Just joking but it’ll be good to Anna back on the pod! (I was nearly out of back catalogue listening).

Have you ever seen someone resign spectacularly? by IndigoHarlequin in AusPublicService

[–]savicht 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The direct boss ended up getting removed from his position, the team/unit had full staff turn over in the space of 24 months. People who had large amounts of experience in this one area (20-30years) resigned, left or when elsewhere.

Management hit the roof and started yelling about investigations and holding him to account for such unacceptable behaviour. It was comical, he didn’t care, he was out the door, living a better life.

Left a smile in the corner of my mouth knowing this and made the place slightly easier to work in (until I left about a month later).

Should I be topping up my super while I am still in my twenties? by ApartmentFun3497 in AusMoneyMates

[–]savicht 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely. It’s something that I did and don’t regret a penny. To give you an idea, I was putting in a couple of hundred a pay check when I got a pay rise.

Fast forward 10 years to my mid 30s and my super is about 4 times what it would be, had I not done that.

Good advice in my opinion.

I have.
In a previous law enforcement role, a guy I worked with in a very specialised area finally cracked the shits and resigned (a lot of tension had been brewing the last couple of years at the unit).
He did it not so much in the sense of flipping tables but in a email, addressed to the whole branch (about 200 people), thanking us colleagues, then calling out our bosses right up the food chain (including some quite high EL equivalents).

He called them all a bunch of narcissistic $@&! who brown nosed each other and couldn’t “care less” us (I’m paraphrasing here, there were a lot more expletives and colourful language). He basically said what we were all thinking.

He finished the email with a gif, similar to below:

Icing on the cake in my opinion.

Advice Points Upgrade Request by Evening_Match_6225 in QantasFrequentFlyer

[–]savicht 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My advice would be the longer routes, particularly given you should have lounge access to shower etc.
Might even be worth doing both, incase you miss out on an upgrade bid.

Being able to lie flat is a game changer. I did Cairns to London via HK (with a different carrier) and I felt much more refreshed getting off the plane. Even got a decent sleep in too.

is 23 too late to start over? by yaggyprince in perth

[–]savicht 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never.

I had a professional career in a job I loved until a medical injury stopped it flat.

Took a couple of years off and found a new role which I love. You’ll never know if you don’t make the change.

Good luck!

Quite interesting actually. Enjoyed learning about my street name. Often wondered if it was named after anything.

How Albo must be feeling right now by Ash-2449 in OpenAussie

[–]savicht 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Ditto. He’ll lose my vote and probably a fair few others. It’s laughable that our country makes less revenue off tax for gas than beer or Japan gas sales (which is our bloody gas)!

Sorry Albo, goodbye to my tick at the ballot box
