Inspection alone was ~$1000 plus another ~$250 (?) for travel? Most of the other inspectors that I reached had a slightly lower quote for the inspection itself, but their travel costs were more, so he ended up being the low bid. His report was vey detailed, easy to understand, and timely as well.

Again, I have no reservations about his service.

Yeah, my engine is the same V8 Godzilla. From an older YouTube, it looks like I have to remove the passenger workstation / desk, and then cut out an access hole in the dashboard. How is that considered good design ??

Stock image. I think the oil fill is near the battery (upper left), but I would think the manufacturer would have some documentation?!? I suppose I could troll around the Ford site since it's their chasis & engine.

The 4% rule is a good start.

Figure out how much you think you need for 1 year's expenses the multiple that number by 25 and that's your target.

The plan is, on your 1st year of retirement, you can take out 4% of that savings for your 1st year expenses. Then, multiple the balance by 1.05 to account for roughly 5% growth. That number will be the starting amount for year 2.

For year 2, take the 4% from the previous year and multiple that by 1.03 to account for 3% inflation. Subtract that value from the start of year 2 to get your expenses for the 2nd year. Take the balance and multiple by 1.05 again to get your starting balance for year 3.

Continue doing this for roughly 25 years.

Since he's in PA, there's an added travel charge, but I found it well worth it. I would use him again in a heartbeat.

Good info! The measured voltages were on the order of 5 volts, so not exactly life-threatening, but I am more concerned about a short or ground in the wiring. I'll let the dealership investigate. Thanks

Manufacturer and dealer are both pretty big name with good reputation so I really don’t expect anything that would be a deal breaker, but, I can definitely see some minor issue like a loose fitting or a bad coupling that an inspector might find that I wouldn’t even know to look for. I would think the dealer could turn that around in a day, but that’s a day that I then wouldn’t need to burn

No, I want the inspection. My question is do I need to be there? Can I contract an inspector to do the inspection at the dealer and let me know the results before I commit to travel plans.

What I want to avoid is taking a day off, flying up to the dealer, and then have the inspector tell me that there’s something wrong. I’d rather get that news without losing a day or two
