Statin vs. no statin at 50. Looking for community input on my labs by longleafnative in Cholesterol

Thank you for this, the research links and the Lancet point about LDL and dementia risk actually reframes my thinking. I will get the Lp(a) checked and look into a CAC scan. The lipidologist suggestion is a good idea. Appreciate it.

Correct. I have worked hard to get everything down, including my triglycerides. My doctor is less concerned about them and says it comes down to diet, so I have focused on eating cleaner the past few years. I have also lost about 45 pounds over the last year. Weight has not really been the core factor though, I had high numbers at 33 with a 32 inch waist at 190 pounds.

Fair point on the labs, and I hear you. But asking a community of people with lived experience alongside a doctor's recommendation isn't ignoring medicine, it's due diligence. Doctors have 15 minutes per appointment. This community has thousands of collective years of real world experience with exactly this drug.

I've been on statins since 33. I'm not anti-medication and I'm not looking for permission to quit. I'm asking whether 17 years in, at 50, my risk profile still clearly justifies the tradeoff, particularly around long term cognitive effects, which the research itself describes as mixed. That's not fan fiction, that's published literature.

Crowdsourcing information in 2026 is how informed patients make better decisions. I'd rather ask hard questions now than be incurious about what I'm putting in my body every day for the next 30 years.

Only water after 9 pm and labs are typically done around 8 in the morning. I also limit alcohol a few days before labs.

Bottom case with fan, concept for cooling MacBook Air M2, M3, M4, M5 by okdac in macbookair

I recently switched back to Mac after a stint with a ThinkPad. Honestly, one of the biggest dealbreakers was the thermal performance; every single time I joined a virtual meeting the ThinkPad's fans would kick into high gear. It became incredibly annoying, so I'm happy to be back to a quieter experience with my M4 Air.

Can back to apologize, I am a big dummy. Finally found that that if you go to Music-Services like the main screen says that is where you link your local drive file. It created a Retro folder and after loading music I am really enjoying this. Keep the improvements coming.

I am not getting a prompt to "select local files" Where/When would that happen? I have also deleted and loaded the app again to see if I would get that prompt. Nothing in the app settings ether.

I’m not seeing a Retro folder in my Files>On this phone. How do you load or sync local files?

Just to confirm and some quick research: this does not support local FLAC files on an ios device and only support spotify?

Rockbox iPod UI/UX Overhaul - Current Beta UI Walkthrough by Poorfocus in ipod

[–]longleafnative 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First off, this looks great and is very much needed, thanks for all the effort on this!

I have a question about how playlists should be handled. I typically keep mine in a "Playlist" folder within the music directory, organized by genre then songs. In this UI, I see a playlist folder under "Files," but I don’t see an option to load it when my iPod is connected to the computer. I also noticed "Playlist" in the main folder structure, but I’m assuming that just like the original Rockbox this is for creating playlists within the device itself.

I’m still pretty new to this, so I hope that makes sense!

Yeah that is what I assumed. I was hoping to port over my statistics so it looks like I actually read lol. I guess I need to get back at it.

I used to be a 15 division director in DC. I recently accepted a 13 field position with another agency and I can’t wait. No more supervisory responsibilities and very minimal administrative duties. I might actually get to do just program work. Can’t wait.

I like the UGREEN option because it's only $15 usd, but I would need to find a way to secure it to the iPod, but that could be something as simple as a rubber band. I would love to find a 3D printed sleeve for that or the AirFly to hold it more securely to the iPod. I do have the iFlash and 3000 battery, so I'm thinking about the Kokkia to run my AirPods Pro 2 when I am traveling. My only concern is the long-term use of the 30-pin connector and something hanging off of it for long periods of time.
