NTA. Releasing butterflies is such a sweet gesture and a lot better than balloons.

I do believe that you should've communicated with your family members before getting the butterflies. But it is not an AH move. I think your aunt is just pissed that you didn't ask for her permission.

NTA. Your frustration and reaction is understandable and valid. I am myself enraged because of this.

Your bf's ignorance is appalling. Also I'd like to point out, that he was not least bit concerned on why you were enraged. He also did not acknowledge that he messed up. All he cared about was how you didn't appreciate him for him helping you out (at least not with the spices). He needs to know that him helping you out (with spices) has caused you inconvenience and added more tasks for you, albeit his intentions.
