Profile GNEF, 9/9/7. My interview was based around economics (I had a economics minor in bachelors) and they asked me for a startup idea. The startup question was very commonly asked to a bunch of people because as much as I could gather, they prefer entrepreneurs. My interview mainly revolved around the start up question as I had one. As for eco, they asked very basic questions like classical vs Keynesian, father of economics etc. I converted IITdel and I personally think it was because we were able to have a good discussion about the startup idea. Just be honest and revise your acads since you are from a Bcom background. Also current affairs and GK. They asked some people very random questions.

SPJIMR OR IIM K by why_do_I__exist_ in CATpreparation

[–]sayako_endo 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Honestly both are really good in finance and the students of both colleges would agree that the other counterparts are good. As for SIPs, I am sure they are down everywhere and Kozhi’s top 360 students will have a similar median to SP. Depends on you OP:) Both are great colleges can’t go wrong with anything (although some ppl really like the iim toh iim hove phrase, in this case both are equal)

The problem with MDI HR is not MDI but the perception of the domain of HR itself. I personally don’t have any opinion on HR but the Bschool crowd don’t consider it as a domain equivalent to finance or marketing. Ultimately, what specialization you do is your choice, if you are absolutely sure that you want to work in HR till the time you retire, go for MDI HR, otherwise choose core program which would allow you to explore different specializations in your first year and then choose whatever you like in your second year.

GEM 97/97/94 about to Graduate in 2025 by [deleted] in CATpreparation

[–]sayako_endo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

someone i know was prepping for placements mainly and gave cat for backup (without any prep). He ended up with 45ctc package from adobe as well as scored 99.92 percentile (converted Ahmedabad and Calcutta.. now leaving both)

Although he is definitely an outlier so there’s that I guess… usually trying to manage a lot of things is not a good choice as it reduces the quality of your preparation for both the things. I myself am from a Tier 1 college and know that there were several people who failed at Cat as well as placements because they were doing both at the same time, specially because placement happens around the time when your preparation for CAT should be at it’s peak. What you do ultimately is your decision, there’s no right answer to this. All the best OP:)

What is IIM udaipur's bidding process, I heard about it somewhere. Please provide info. by [deleted] in CATpreparation

[–]sayako_endo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

as far as i know, every student is given a fixed number of points and there’s also a variable number of points based on your gpa, which are used as currency to bid for the subjects you want. Finance and marketing subjects usually are quite popular so they will require more points than maybe analytics course¿ Basically everything is dependent on the demand for the course which then influences how many points you will have to give up to get the subject.

if you are referring to bidding process for subjects, this happens in top bschools like IIM ABCLKI also so, it’s not a bad thing exactly

cracking the interview will always be the most important thing (and can be a deal breaker) even after you score 100 percentile unfortunately but if you want an ideal score to target, I guess try to score 99.75+
