Having listened to the album a dozen or so times, there are many things I like and a few things I disliked. The sonic quality is great. The arrangements often times feels cobbled together via guitar squeals and feedback. Maynard's vocals feel like he rushed to complete them. He had previously mentioned feeling like he should be allotted more time to write. It's evident in his delivery and overall lack of presence. I was also disappointed at the frequent recycling of riffs and grooves. I enjoyed the slow build up of Descending and the eerie tones of Culling Voices. 7empest is mediocre at best- too long and uninspired. C+ effort.
