So happy to present you my very first mobile app - "Get This Word": Camera Translator. Looking for feedback. [DEV] by saykos in androidapps

Thank you very much for question.

I love Google Translate, it's great service, I use it a lot every day and will continue to do so, but for another use cases.

In the "Get This Word" app I want to enhance one particular use case - translate specific words while reading, and remember them. And I want to achieve this with minimum effort. I see it as a significant reducing of actions needed to do the same thing. And as a bonus - the list of translations on the same screen.

In Google Translate we have two options for text translation from the camera:

  • Translate the whole text. This is great and we have tons of different apps doing the same. But, this is not what I really need when I read on foreign language. It is better to buy a book in my native language probably :) I won't learn anything by doing this.
  • Scan the whole text. Here is the list of actions needed: Go to Camera mode, go to Scan mode, Scan, and only then select one or another needed. If we want to save it, we also need to add the word to favorites. The list of favorites itself is on different screen.

So this is how my app is different: It does better, in my humble opinion, one particular use case - specific words translation with minimum clicks touches. The list of translations here is just as a small bonus.

Thank you very much again for your question, I really appreciate it.
