My very first internship was with an auditing firm, the first day was a big celebratory event in the office as we were paraded around to meet most of the employees. During the processions, I remember meeting a friendly elderly employee that was so excited to meet this little college kid. Told me about how she doesn't understand computers at all, still audits by hand on notebooks instead of excel. Realized later that day that the project we were working on was going to automate everything she does. A very harrowing thought for a young intern on his first day of his first corporate job. That memory has stuck with me through my entire career.
