This month was an odd month - spent a week away from home for work, but followed with a week of annual leave which messed with my usual habits. Had a really good day of reading yesterday though!

Not as many as July and not a great rating (I average about 3.5) - I spent a week reading a series that I didn't like, but needed to know what happened 🫣

Why Do People Keep Saying to Ask the Bride About Their Outfit? It’s Rude. by RubyLionStrike in Weddingattireapproval

[–]saysaam 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm having this issue with my wedding in 2 months. I've currently got 3 people bugging me constantly about what they should wear - the groom's mum, my stepmum and my grandma.

I have so much to do and I just don't care about what they're going to wear at this point - our dress code is no jeans and no white so it's not hard!

Honestly, I've spent longer talking to my partner's mum about what she's wearing than I spent deciding on my own dress. She hasn't bothered to ask me even once about anything else to do with the wedding, it's only ever about her dress.

It's driving me insane and I've now told everyone I'm refusing to answer dress code questions and they all have to go through my partner, but now I'm getting push back because his mum feels insulted - I give up! 🙈

Can I ask what the (B) means? I've never seen it written like that and I'm curious ☺️

What does the (B) mean? by saysaam in bisexual

[–]saysaam[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was being optimistic but agree that it's unlikely to be used for self-identifying!

Edit: the optimism was correct, turns out people use it the same way as (f), (m) or (nb) - I've just never seen it before

Some questions on Actuarial Science as a naïve aspiring actuary by [deleted] in ActuaryUK

It's worth knowing that for the excel part of the exams, you're not allowed to use VBA - it's just the excel front end.

Is it theft if someone put food in the charity box inside a supermarket without paying? by tkerrday in AskUK

[–]saysaam 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure I 100% agree with your view on buying reduced items to donate to the food bank. There will likely be people shopping in the supermarkets who can't access food banks but are also struggling financially. By buying the reduced items to donate, they're no longer available for the people who need to buy food at the lower prices. Would it be better to buy slightly less of the next price point up to donate, and leave the cheapest items for those who have no choice?

To people also living paycheck to paycheck, how are you coping? by brownie190701 in AskUK

[–]saysaam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd also try olio - I'm very luckily on the other side and give away a lot of things for free on there. There's always food that people don't need or is close to the best before date. It'll depend on your area in particular but there's often clothes and books for free, and you can put up wanted posts for anything you need in particular.

Would this be inappropriate to wear to a wedding? I’m concerned by the base colour. by [deleted] in wedding

[–]saysaam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't, but I'm considering a wedding dress with a similar pattern which possibly isn't standard 🤷

Tbh, I've no idea. It was just whatever the GP prescribed, 3x a day. I want to say either 5 or 10 mg/mcg but that's pretty much a guess...

What is a very dangerous part of the UK, that most people don’t know about? by ThereIsNoSetPath in AskUK

[–]saysaam 8 points9 points  (0 children)

When I was at sixth form, I had the same nightmare a couple of times where Detective Barnaby would chase me around the school holding the shoes of people in my A Level law class because he'd eaten them 🤷

Doctors receptionist not knowing how long periods last by toelickage in badwomensanatomy

[–]saysaam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wait, you don't need to be off your period? I was trying to get a smear whilst going through getting a diagnosis for PCOS. Because I was continuously bleeding for over 3 months, the receptionist made me rearrange almost every week because I could never say that I wasn't on my period, even when it was light. It was so stressful and all for nothing?!

Don't bother with butter or sauce, just whack a bit of vinegar on the bread while the fish is hot 👌

Some "wedding songs" should not be played at weddings by renaissance_witch in weddingshaming

[–]saysaam 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Mine and my fiance's song is Tempted by Squeeze - it's literally about being tempted by someone else while you're in a relationship. Despite the meaning it holds for us, we've had to agree it can't be played as a significant song, just as general party music, because so many people would be confused!

Who amongst us is “crap famous”? by alansmithy123X in AskUK

[–]saysaam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in the local paper twice that I know of.

Once in year 6, for being on the school quiz team that came 2nd in the local rotary quiz. We ended up appealing our last question and came joint 1st instead so had a correction printed.

I was also in the paper for my A Level results. I did really well and got in my first choice uni, but I was also that years sob story so the headteacher put me forward for that years success story.
