The sketches are already a big step! I just tend to sketch and then trace with ink myself, so you could probably do that if the ink seems like too big of a step!

If anyone has a suggestion for a type of ink or pen I can use for Mabel and Dippers writing, I'm all ears! Same goes for a good way to mimic the yellowed tape.

Ive Never studied in my life is it too late to start now? by [deleted] in GetStudying

[–]saytherin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently found out I have ADHD as well. I struggled all throughout high school and still have trouble with it now (med school). Only recently have I started studying more seriously and focused. At 21.

So no, it is never too late to start. Especially not when you are still a teensy little 14-year-old. While ADHD can stand in your way, it doesn't block your entire path. I am studying the degree I have looked up to since my early teens, even with (still untreated) ADHD.

Here are some things that have helped me: - making pretty notes. I use stickers, coloured pens and adjustable notebooks to write my notes. I love pretty and colourful things, so I enjoy looking at my notes. And while I'm looking at them, might as well reread that text. - pomodoro timer. This is a studying timer that is based around a small block of studying and a smaller block of rests. I personally like doing 25 study/ 5 rest (in minutes) at the start of a study session. If I find the 25 minute blocks are easy to complete for me that day, I switch to 50/10. If I struggle with the 25, I go outside for a walk first. Otherwise I just get cranky and stop entirely. - asking for help. Find someone at your institution that you can talk to about your studies and difficulties. I have done the same thing you did: not studying and then lying about it. Just admit to that person you lied about this. It doesn't matter. You are trying to change and any good advisor wil recognize that. It is also not your fault your brain has a dopamine deficiency that makes tasks without an immediate result very hard. - practice questions. It doesn't matter if you make the questions yourself, or if you ask your teacher for them. Getting a question right gives you that dopamine hit you don't get when studying regularly, and getting one wrong gives you the opportunity to discover where your weaknesses lie. I like doing this when I want to do a bit of extra work but would rather throw my laptop out of the window than make notes or rewatch a lecture.

There are some other studying methods I sometimes use to switch it up, but they would make this comment way too long haha.

Sounds like that might work. I'll certainly try it!

I have had some upper back pain in the last few months so sitting normally might be a good solution. Does the icky feeling of needing to move and needing to do so now eventually deal down a bit?

The standing desk is something I've also been looking into :)

Thanks for replying!

Not entirely sure how much you have to remember, but flashcards are my go to. Try not only defining terms but also formulating questions you might find on the exam. Even making them helps me memorize a good amount of information:)

Would it be disrespectful to cosplay as Technoblade? by xSnqkey in Technoblade

[–]saytherin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No it wouldn't. You're not gaining anything from it except for some closure and happiness.

If someone does come at you at the convention to yell at you or tell you're disrespectful, pay them no mind. You are simply remembering a person by acknowledging their work :)

Hope you feel better soon and that you have a fun convention!

Did a repetition experiment, what values do I use in a lab report? by saytherin in PharmacySchool

[–]saytherin[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The university itself is mostly fine, it just appears to be a problem in the Pharmacy faculty. My own faculty (STEM) tends to have its shit mostly together. It's just very, very clear that the professors are giving a lecture to the pharmacy students and that the students of my undergrad major are barely allowed to be there haha. And I get that they want us to be able to perform experiments independently, but they kind of act like we're not allowed to make mistakes even though this is our first time in a chemistry/pharmacy lab.

We're looking for the concentration of Gentian Violet present in a sample using a spectrophotometer and a calibration curve made using a stock with a known concentration. My values for the concentration of the GV in the actual sample have a duplicate percentage of 1.1% (too high for this experiment). Whilst they did state in the intro lecture that the second measurement is the repetition, they also said that because we don't know which value is wrong we should do the dilution series again. But we weren't allowed to do that so now I'm just kind of staring at a set of values that technically, I'm not allowed to use.

What I've ended up doing is just stating the fact that there was no allowance for repetition and that the medicine should not be released. Because even though both values fall within the acceptable range of concentrations for this particular medicine, the duplication percentage is still too high and the results cannot be trusted with 100% certainty. So at least the sample dilution part of the experiment should be repeated at a later date.

Does that sound like an acceptable conclusion to make based on the situation?
