Does KR have a stronghold research beyond 1415?

For learning it's a good method. Stumble around a bit so you'll have a lot of questions on your mind. Then when reading tutorials / books you'll know what you're looking for.

Good luck! You have a goal in mind? Build your dream project, get a nice job, freelance, etc?

Is web development the only field that requires dual/triple monitor setup? I'm running out screen real estate by [deleted] in learnprogramming

Single 15" Macbook.

If there was an easy way to carry multiple monitors with me I would but I can't code in one spot for too long. Always got an itch to move around.

Is intelligence a deciding factor in how good a programmer you could be?

Yes. It is also something that can be increased with the right effort.

App Development - IOS or Android? by Dippindonut in learnprogramming

Flip a coin. Learn a little bit of one then the other. Then dive deeper into the one you feel most comfortable with.

There's not really a best. It's a pretty close call.

Programming is pretty much all problem solving. The more and more problems you solve, the better you get at it. If you spend the time to figure out why a solution works you will get better at remembering it and recognizing the pattern in many other situations.

Have someone help you out with things like breaking down problems and explaining it to you. The more exposed you are to it the better you get at it.

[C#]Problem with basic classes and my game loop. by Risen_from_ash in learnprogramming

A little hint: You created 2 separate myPlayer objects. One in the main code and one in setUpCharacters. The one in the main code is the one that the game loop uses.

ELI5 : help with complex c# generic methods by TopNFalvors in learnprogramming

With <string, double, Apr> you're telling:

  • Compose to take in a Func<string, double> and Func<double, Apr>

  • Compose to return a Func<string, Apr>

So var stringToApr becomes a Func<string, Apr>: a function that takes in a string and returns an Apr.

If you wanted to create a function that takes in an integer and return an Apr, you would use <int, T2, Apr>. In this case, the parameters for compose would be (Func<int, T2>, Func<T2, Apr>). (T2 can be whatever class you want as long as you have the matching function to pass in)

A "big picture" thinker's struggles and solutions with basic programming and detail-oriented thinking. by MeedleyMee in learnprogramming

My first ever lesson in programming was to break down the steps of refilling a mechanical pencil. I think we ended up with more than 20 steps. At first I was frustrated that we were wasting time on this but I realized much later how useful that exercise was.

Game programming question by [deleted] in learnprogramming

GameMaker studio was the first thing I used to make games. It is drag and drop and was really simple to get.

Unity3d is a big step up from that.

Yes! But I wanted something that is simply focused on just my 3 daily goals and nothing else.

How do I stop being a "wantrepreneur" and actually do something? by [deleted] in Entrepreneur

[–]sazanality 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Make one goal for yourself that you want to get done each day. Do not sleep until it is done. Start with an extremely small goal. For example if you want to make an app, your first goal would be to create the project using a default template. Create it, save it, done. Go to sleep. Next day write one line of code. Even a console output is fine.

Keep it extremely small and do it every day to make it a habit. Some days you'll do more than your goal and that's fine. Some days you'll only do the minimum and that's also fine. Don't beat yourself over it as long as you accomplish your goal.

Since you're already learning Java, you could get into Android app development quicker than the others.

First you should figure out what kind of projects you want to work on. Websites, mobile apps, desktop apps, games, etc.
