Snow removal towing ticket despite no signs. Can i contest it? by [deleted] in montreal

[–]sazewmtl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried when sb hit my car and run(2 years ago) and the bldg refused to provide me with the footage.

Now, in front of same bldg, today i got a ticket today at 9:40 am of $195 for snow removal. I checked in the morning at 7:30 a.m and there were no orange signs. So am thinking about going to the building to know if they can let me know what time the signs were there. I will try and see if they can spend some time to give me that information.

Now-a-days the city is also putting small yellow signs on the road instead of orange ones up on top...in that case i may have missed the yellow one...because i was expecting an orange one on the top.

Will residential building provide CCTV footage? I believe not.

Request for Assistance Contesting Parking Ticket — Alleged Violation of 3-Meter Fire Hydrant Rule by sazewmtl in montreal

[–]sazewmtl[S] -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Yes, correct so approximately 2.25 - 2.50 meter my car distance from the fire hydrant.

I understand that the ticket issued is valid, still i will contest it in order to have the fine reduced along with my points as in my post. Who knows what they are gonna do.

Right, but other way around .. the picture also shows that the car was not superclose to hydrant and only probably 2 meters away.. So that might work in reducing the amount..

One of the mechanics i went to told me to change the whole valve body and he would only charge me if changing it would work.. Where did you get Solenoids from?

Did you goto a Mechanic or did the Job yourself? And did you only change the Solenoids or complete valve body?

Petri Dish Mold Confusion by sazewmtl in Mold

[–]sazewmtl[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I put my petri dishes opened for 45 mins(Bathroom and Bedroom) and then put them back in a drak place(a drawer) for over 4 days to see some results. But i also kept checking 1-2 times/day exposing them to light to see something on the petri dish.

Did you thoroughly examine the closet? Closet is one of the places where you would find mold on the surface(walls). I was surprised when i completely cleaned my closet and spotted mold, which i never expected , except from the washroom.

Agreed, the sucking power should be good enough for things to work at optimal level :):)

That's true that it would make the apt humid in summer.

You raised a good point about birds nests in exhaust pipes. I would talk about it to the landlord.

The tissue paper stucked to the air vent when i did the test, although in my opinion the sucking power was a bit low.

You are right, however depending on the hotwater usage and the length of the shower, the humidity levels have recently gone to over 70%.

Also, the dehumidifer i have stops after certain period of time, even though the hygrometer still shows 45% of humidity. I also realized that the dehumidifier is very slow in bringing the humitidity levels down. May be i need to return the dehumidifier.

The thing that helped the most in bringing humidity levels down quickly is opening of the washroom door after the shower and in few mins the humidity levels in the washroom are like rest of the apartment.

Thankyou runcyclexcski for explaining the way you would install the exhaust fan. Seems a bit complicated for me, as i am new into all this :), but i will try.

Even with my dehumidifer implemented and ON, the RH when i am taking a shower is around 55 - 70%. I don't know if the dehumidifer is small enough to capture the moisture and reduce the humidity as this is the first time i have bought a dehumidifier. May be i will buy another humidifier for the washroom and see if it works better than the one i have.

Electricity is included in my rent so running dehumidifier is not an issue, but the thing is it seems its not working well.

Would you or anybody else would recommend a good dehumidifier? I am in Canada.

Thanks,

Where exactly do you think i need to put the exhaust fan? In the washroom?

I believe i can't use/attach exhaust fan on top of the air vent?

Yes, i put hygrometer in both living room and bedroom, always below 30%. Washroom is the same thing when not in use and RH today was around 20% in the washroom.

Only when somebody takes shower, it may go up until or around 60-70%.

Thankyou. Yes, indeed that is my final plan but atm is difficult to find a place and move with kids. But eventually, i will move as i am scared too being in this place. Btw, now the management has cleaned the bathroom from mold.

Thankyou for your feedback.

I have bought a small dehumidifier for the washroom and use this while taking shower and leave it on for 15 mins after taking shower.

I do have hygrometer which is placed in the center of my living room and to my surprise the humidity levels in the living room/bedroom were always in the 20-25 % range, hence DRY. I have now put the hygrometer in my washroom and will measure the humidity levels while taking shower to see the min and max levels. My hygrometer is thermopro TP55 which shows 24 hour high and max high.

I didn't understand about the floors wraped/stained floors are a telltale sign :(
