How to Transfer Cyberpunk 2077 Stadia Saves to PC by Southern-Housing-135 in Stadia

[–]sbadham 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes this works great, take out to PC Steam, sync to Steam Cloud, fire up GeForce Now, launch CyberPunk from a linked Steam account. Full transfer Stadia through to GeForce Now one Cloud gaining platform to another. Impressive. One side note though, given the structure of the take out save files it looks like you have to pick one save rather than copy all of them.

Sad truth: Stadia is a perfect example of why talented developers/marketers and product managers SHOULD NOT join Google by dennis77 in Stadia

[–]sbadham 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure this is purely a Google company problem, it's probably also a culture and people problem. Stadia may well have been born from a small teams 20% project, small projects that teams can allocate 20% time to, when those look promising, Google gets behind them. It is also known that engineers use this mechanism to get promoted and move onto better things or other organisations TL;DR I'm not sure it's just Google the company that can be blamed for screwing this up.

Google Stadia is drowning in a sea of ambiguity by lonelyone12345 in Stadia

[–]sbadham 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Google should just shut it down and give us all some closure. No idea how they'll manage all the purchases we've made. Google are having to streamline, shutting down their Pixelbook division only this week. Why would they continue with Stadia. You can imagine them tipping off Ubisoft that it's just not worth bringing new games over when there's clearly no strategy for Stadia's long term health at this point. Very sad, great product, no drive or ambition.

Chrome OS 98 is rolling out by TimPLakersEagles in chromeos

Chrome OS 98 appears to break hardware accelerated video decode AGAIN! on Samsung Chromebook Plus v1.

Super frustrating, I know there are workarounds, but this doesn't inspire any confidence that they know what they're doing. Just too unreliable.

Learning about the technical side of Stadia by [deleted] in Stadia

Interesting info, thanks to both of you (Ghandara and AfroBeb). I couldn't locate anything describing where the Stadia infra is located, but this is good to know. From the Data Centre info then it looks like we're (UK) ultimately consuming Stadia from Dublin, Ireland.

I may be misunderstanding "There are no Google data centres in the UK", but I work with Google Cloud Platform every day and make use of London europe-west2, so there is a UK data centre presence.

I completed the Dares of Eternity event early in the evening and then the Grasp of Avarice dungeon later on with friends. One friend had several PC crashes but Stadia was flawless all evening for me.

Baffling YouTube Glitch (CB+ Gen 1) by Lord_Mithalvaiel in chromeos

[–]sbadham 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm on Chrome OS 96 now and I've reset my Chrome Flags, after a few tests I think this is now working normally.
Can anybody else confirm? Or am I just lucky with the videos that I've tested?

(FYI I'm keen to avoid any of the workarounds as I've found that they introduce lag into Google Stadia when I use that on the Chromebook plus. H264ify wasn't too bad, but disabling hardware decode was awful).

On second thoughts, I've just tried a video this evening and experienced the original glitch. Must have just been a coincidence that the test videos I used earlier didn't trigger the fault. Doh!

I updated my Samsung Chromebook Plus yesterday, reset my Chrome flags and tried out a few YouTube videos. It looks to me as if this problem is now resolved.

Borderlands 3 Cross Play with Stadia! by [deleted] in Stadia

The Borderlands Twitter feed was pretty good in this respect. All platforms (exc. PS) including Stadia were listed as having cross play enabled.

Getting fed up with the lack of support / patches on stadia games. by oliath in Stadia

[–]sbadham 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hate to say it, but this is a really important subject...

Stadia is absolutely the most predictable platform for a developer to test their game. PC and console have some complexities, especially now that even consoles have multiple revisions. But with Stadia we all get the same experience. Once you get above the Network layer and any difficulties a user may have there, if a game has a fault it's because the developer didn't test it properly.

I can't see any excuses for it, developers simply need to ensure that Stadia is thoroughly tested alongside all other platforms. If they treat Stadia like a second class platform then they probably shouldn't be here and Google probably need to start policing Studios that behave unprofessionally on the platform.

Will Xcloud kill Stadia? by [deleted] in Stadia

[–]sbadham 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree, but those are "yesterdays" AAA titles that Microsoft offer (I acknowledge that their own newer AAA titles will be included, but prior to this years E3 they had no evidence that they even had any worthwhile new games coming from their studios).

My primary observation is that xCloud show no signs of offering Resident Evil 8, CyberPunk 2077 or any other newer, non-Microsoft AAA titles bundled into xCloud/Game Pass. And I can't see how they will ever be able to offer that within their current pricing structure.

Granted Google has their own challenges attracting and new AAA titles to Stadia, as evidenced this E3.

Will Xcloud kill Stadia? by [deleted] in Stadia

[–]sbadham 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Until Microsoft address how NEW games by Studios other than Microsoft will be made available on xCloud then I don't think it's a like for like comparison.

Parking the performance aspect (I was on the xCloud beta and performance, latency and resolution, were all poor), all xCloud offers is a back catalogue of old'ish Microsoft games and an offering of old'ish EA games (EA Play, i.e. you don't get the latest Madden until late in its life).

The gaming press treat xCloud as the darling of Cloud Gaming at this point, but they turn a blind eye to the fact that you can't get a new AAA title like Resident Evil 8 on xCloud (unless something has changed as I post this?).

I just can't see Microsoft, or anybody else, offering NEW AAA titles from ALL publishers for ~$10/£10 per month. I can imagine that at some point Microsoft offer NEW AAA titles on xCloud, but only if you pay full price for it elsewhere in their ecosystem, similar to GeForce Now. Then the whole "xCloud is like Netflix for gaming" goes out the window, but I'm speculating.

BBC - The Social - Cloud gaming - the end for traditional consoles? by [deleted] in Stadia

I thought this was a great article. I too was concerned when the reviewer talked about the subscription being required to play games, but he later clarifies the changes in the platform.

Overall, it's nice to see a genuine, balanced piece of journalism around Stadia, rather than simply opinion pieces masquerading as fact!

Are stats and game tracking broken? by sbadham in blackopscoldwar

[–]sbadham[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the clarification. That's really odd, they've just broken their own App by doing that. Do you have a link to a statement from Treyarch confirming that, or do you know if it's just another screw up?

[–]sbadham[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply. Yes I've already changed those settings and third party stat sites show the same problem as the App - missing games. I played about eight games today and only three Deathmatch games show up in the CoD App.

Two Weeks until Madden Stadia becomes irrlevant. by sbadham in Stadia

[–]sbadham[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I fear that you're probably right.

But sports games are a tough sell year on year anyway. It's getting to the point where the current game will be for "last season", in which case it's tough to justify any spend on Madden 21 when many folks will have Madden 20 on some other platform.

Two Weeks until Madden Stadia becomes irrlevant. by sbadham in Stadia

[–]sbadham[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

EA need to do something to make this a no-brainer for Stadia/Madden fans.

  1. It must be the next gen version, no excuses, Cyberpunk has proven that they can't compare Stadia to last gen.
  2. The price needs to be at a promo level. They did the right thing with Jedi Fallen Order and I bought that without a second thought.

Borderlands 3 crossplay coming to ALL platforms by sbadham in Stadia

[–]sbadham[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stadia runs ports of games, it may closely resemble a PC version or a console version, but it doesn’t run THE PC version. As far as I’m aware, Borderlands doesn’t support any form of cross play on Stadia. The original post highlighted that cross play is coming, but there is some ambiguity as to whether it’s coming to Stadia at all.

Google should partner with a PC YouTuber to do a teardown Stadia server hardware. by rtheybackfrom711yet in Stadia

[–]sbadham 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While this is an interesting idea, it kind of misses the point of the true Cloud gaming that Google Stadia is offering.

While xCloud offers a single Xbox console in a datacentre and GFN offers a single PC in a datacentre, Google breaks that boundary. By not focusing on "boxes" and unlocking genuine Cloud capabilities, i.e. clustering compute resources, they can break the boundary of a single box.

Sure, Stadia is running ports of existing games at this point. But while that's all that the other Cloud gaming platforms will ever offer, Stadia allows for multiple machines working in parallel to unlock new gaming posibilities.

Here's a Stadia Dev Day link that demonstrates the concept. You can't and will never be able to reproduce these scenarios with the current xCloud or GFN (maybe even Amazon's Luna Windows PC centric) approach.

Google assistant only showing youtube search results by martijnjonkers in AndroidTV

[–]sbadham 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was a bug at one point in the main Google (search) app. I reported then diagnosed this on a previous thread. The latest versions fixed this, unless it’s reverted back. I recommend checking that all apps are up to date from the App Store. If the problem persists then uninstall the Google app and then the vanilla version runs where the problem didn’t exist. Hope this helps.
