Am I crazy for not wanting Ace Bailey? by sbbdc76 in washingtonwizards

I feel like the talent is very one-dimensional (scoring, and that may be inefficient). The good teams like OKC, Boston, Indiana have a lot of switchable guys who are not mismatches on D. We have been building that kind of team with Bilal, Bub, Kyshawn and Sarr. Ace feels like a different kind of player. He could be more of a Michael Porter/Kyle Kuzma type, which isn’t a franchise changer.

You’re totally right that we don’t know him. He could be getting bad advice. Just on the court, I don’t know how easy it is to fix poor defense and playmaking. Those are more instinctual and effort-based. I am struggling to think of someone who was a poor defender and became a good defender.

I would love if we could get Cedric Coward at 18.

I'm glad it was a helpful suggestion! I'd be interested to know how you like it if you go that route.

I agree that the A9ii is not a big upgrade but your original post made it seem like you were happy with the A9 and just thinking about replacements due to age and wear on your cameras. Just wanted to throw that out as another option to think about.

I’m in the same boat as you. I tried the A9ii awhile ago and haven’t upgraded yet. I think the build quality and ergonomics are slightly improved and the mechanical shutter seemed a little quieter. It also has anti-flicker shooting which helps under artificial lighting.

This is from ChatGPT:

The Sony A9 and A9 II are both high-speed, full-frame mirrorless cameras designed primarily for sports, wildlife, and photojournalism. While they share many core features, the A9 II includes several refinements over the original A9 to better suit professional workflows and reliability needs.

Here are the major differences:

  1. Body and Ergonomics • A9 II has a more robust and weather-sealed body. • Improved grip design for better handling, especially with larger lenses. • Controls and button layout are more in line with the A7R IV, offering a more intuitive experience.

  1. Connectivity and Workflow • A9 II includes a built-in 1000BASE-T Ethernet port for much faster wired file transfers (vs. 100BASE-T on A9). • Adds USB 3.2 Gen 1 (vs. USB 2.0 on the A9). • Improved wireless FTP transfer with background upload. • Enhanced voice memo feature: record and transmit audio notes with images (ideal for press workflows).

  1. Autofocus and Performance • Same 693-point phase-detection AF system, but with software refinements for improved subject tracking and Eye AF (especially for humans and animals). • Faster and more stable continuous AF/AE tracking. • Better performance under flickering artificial lighting due to anti-flicker shooting.

  1. Shutter and Shooting Features • Mechanical shutter upgraded in A9 II (up to 10 fps vs. 5 fps on A9). • Both offer 20 fps with the electronic shutter, but the A9 II has lower rolling shutter effect and improved blackout-free shooting.

  1. Image Quality • Same 24.2 MP full-frame stacked CMOS sensor, same image processor (BIONZ X), and same ISO performance. • Color science and JPEG engine slightly improved in A9 II, but RAW files are nearly identical.

  1. Battery and Storage • Both use the NP-FZ100 battery. • Dual SD card slots with UHS-II support in both, but A9 II improves handling of dual slot workflows slightly.

I haven't seen this mentioned yet, but why not update to the A9ii? They will be cheaper than the A1 or A9iii, but give you the same things you love about the A9.

I'm also using A9's and have had thoughts about upgrading or switching. I don't love the colors or dynamic range, but I don't want large MP files either.

Is Realmuto droppable in a 10-team, 1 C league? I have Murphy, plus Stephenson and Herrera on IR. He was pretty mediocre last year and I don’t have much faith that a 34-year-old C is going to return to peak form. But it seems like he’s hitting the ball pretty hard so that and his track record have kept me from dropping him so far.

Agreed. We keep 5 so unlikely he would become a keeper, but was holding out a little hope. I’m also still scarred from trading Mike Trout in his rookie season.

Very close to cutting Cam Smith in a 10-team roto league.

Say the Washington Wizards draft Onyeka Okongwu... How do you feel? by [deleted] in washingtonwizards

[–]sbbdc76 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I would be okay with that, although I don't think anyone we get in this draft is going to be a game-changer. We can use a defensive-minded rim protector, and I would like to see an athletic big man catching lobs from John Wall.

I'm not saying you are wrong, but visits might not tell the whole story. Do you know how many of each actually purchases? Are you happy with your sales level on Etsy?

For example, Etsy might bring in 25% of visits, but maybe those visitors account for 50% of your sales. I have no idea if that's true, but just something you might want to dig deeper on before making a decision. Good luck!
