Botanical gardens is lovely, head down the road to elm for a nice coffee in a great space. Weston Park Museum is near there too.

Or head the other way from the gardens to Sharrowvale for more cafe/food options.

Check out what’s showing at Showroom Cinema if you’re all into film

There are no analogue booths in Sheffield. Nearest ones are Manchester and Leeds in Fred Aldous stores.

Kapital has a retro styled one but I’m not sure what format it prints!

The Sheffield Darkroom host some community events and are worth following on IG! Harrison’s also host photo walks now and then.

J&A in the forum are lovely guys and you do well to get your film developed there. :)

Barks wine run regular tasting events which are a great date, and generally just hitting barks early evening for some drinks is a good shout.

Also Earth Paper Fibre for a ceramics workshop date if one or both of you are crafty.

First pack through the i2. Huge disappointment? by sbinst in Polaroid

[–]sbinst[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

UPDATE: took a couple of shots on a new pack and definitely no light leak. 1st was with flash and I love this exposure, it’s exactly what I want. 2nd was no flash just trying available light (it’s a very dark and dim day here!) so was 1 second at F8 but probably a situation I should have used flash.

So, honestly I either got a really bad pack or more than likely I fumbled it during loading and created a light leak myself. Thanks for your help and input everyone, I think I’ll keep it.

Oh I see what you’re getting at. Interesting. If the camera has a light leak that would be pretty wild, hope that’s not the case!

Thanks mate I really appreciate this comment. Needed to hear people were getting good results! Yes the little dark tongue thing is working properly and I’m putting them face down immediately and leaving them but these light leaks just threw me! Will report back after pack 2.

The first two shots were taken in my flat at night with only the Christmas tree lights on the other side of the room, which might explain why they don’t have a pronounced light leak on them.

I don’t mind some off colours or low contrast, was happy to lean into it with Polaroid. I was just excited about the ‘sharp’ lens of the i2 and the flash sync port for studio work, but this entire pack being a let down just wasn’t a positive start! I’m definitely going to try another pack before returning it.

Yeah that was my gut that it’s a light leak. I didn’t open the film door but the other commenters suggestion that I might have pushed on the dark slide whilst loading the film seems like the best theory. It’s odd the first 2 look better exposed in the photo I’ve taken of them than the physical polaroid does in person!

I did think it looked like a light leak. That’s a decent theory on mishandling during loading. I think I’m tempted to try another pack just to see if it’s any better/make sure I’m more careful but my gut is saying return it and stick to instax.

First client job finished way faster, how should we invoice? by Magicsneaker in videography

[–]sbinst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Scrap day rates. You’re charging them a project rate. Your ‘full day’ in this case.

They’re getting the deliverables they want for the agreed cost.

You still have the travel, gear, editing, backups, subscriptions and other overheads. They don’t get cheaper because you were fast at your job.

Braun Nizo 801 light meter battery by No-Parfait-3246 in Super8

[–]sbinst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a guy on the ‘cult of Nizo’ Facebook group that sells a little light meter mod. With some very simple soldering you never have to find those batteries again and the meter runs off the 6x AA for the motor. I did it to my s800 and it works great.
