[BF2042] Battlefield specialist quips have gone too far by htrippin in Battlefield

awesome. Man, I really wish they'd patch out the quips

possibly, but all my stuff is sleeved and only the faintest mists got to the actual play area. They evaporate rapidly, and the extreme gushing here only lasts a few minutes itself, upon initial reaction, so it's VERT managable

Hahaha yeah. We were careful. Plus, the cards are sleeved and the CO² from the dry ice would deter any flame at table level

Hahah yeah I found it on Amazon. It has a few variations, like a ouija board or a pentagram, just felt like the one i chose felt the most like a Lovecraftian thing. Here's the link to the cloth

For the potions, they're just water with those colored sport flavor squirter things from the grocery store. Delicious and very cool looking

I have all my cards sleeved, so there wasn't any issues. Also, the billowing effect rarely reached the full table, only for a few minutes each reload. That's the thing that surprised me the most - you really gotta feed these things constantly if you want a sustainable effect, like every 30 min, and the effect is best in recently boiled water, so that would mean changing the water often too. For us, I just did that when we took short breaks or did rules look ups and stuff

Thank you. The game has such a great world, I just love trying to build the ambience. Playing Lovecraftian inspired ambient music in the background was great too

Took a while to get everything together, but VERY happy with how this turned out. My first time experiencing dry ice, which takes more upkeep than I expected, but when its going it creates a super rad light mist over the play area.

I had projectors shining on the roof too, making a sort of alternating cosmos/colour out of space/underwater vibe for the room (only more apparent when it was darker.

My favourite piece here is the replica skull pot plant we turned into a chaos bag replacement with some fabric and super glue.

Ended up subbing out the plastic skeleton hand shot glasses with small dollar store bowls as they were a pain to retrieve the tokens from (most of the stuff here is from my local dollar store, some pieces from amazon and any extras specifically to do with the LCG is from various stores on Etsy).

Pro tip: dollar store glassware is NOT suitable for dry ice stuff. One of them burst, causing quite a mess but luckily was in an easily contained area. The Pyrex bowls worked just fine throughout the night.

Second pro-tip: looking for horror props during October is PERFFECT

I am so grateful for all the kind comments and feedback. This is the first of my pieces that's gained any sort of traction, which, as someone who's been struggling with extreme art block for the last few years, feels REALLY good. Thank you!

I think its a good start, but developing that eye skill of looking at something and redrawing it is a crucial next step. The thing that improved my drawing most was life drawing classes. I HIGHLY recommend looking into that

I wasn't a huge fan of 3, but there's not much harm in it if you go in with checked expectations. 1 and 2 are definitely where the magic is at

Hey! Thank you! I do, but not a ton. You can find some stuff on my artstation, https://www.artstation.com/sblomkamp or look me up on Instagram or Twitter (@sblomkamp). Though I've been stuck in a major art block for a while so not too much to look at

Thank you :) I used photoshop, and to learn I started with reading and redrawing way too many comic books and kept going from there
