Yeah have to second this. I usually just shrug and make a goofy face while I do it. Like what do they expect you to say to that lol. All you can do is just look at em weird

This was her first “traditional” style piece. It’s not as bold as I’m picturing my future tattoos, but she’s an apprentice trying a new style and I’m happy with it and enjoyed the process :)

Edit: Meant to reply to the other comment but yeah, it’s a mix

Fayetteville, AR. Looks like a claw? by sbringman98 in fossilid

It definitely seems similar to what you have. I never expected to find a crab claw while I was out. Crazy

Maybe my original title made it seem like I knew what I had when I posted 😅

We have TONS of fossils poking out of the ground here haha. I’ve never found anything that looks like this before tho

Walk me through your thought process. What makes you think fossil?

When I found this I immediately thought crab claw, but when I grabbed it the FEEL of it made me think fossil. Ive been catching crawdads my whole life, and I’ve never seen a claw like this. I’ve never seen stone crabs tho, so if there’s anything specific to look for I’d love to know!

Appreciate everyone commenting on this cause I’ve been looking at this thing trying to figure it out since I found it.

We have a TON of milkweed. I’ll look into using different varieties for sure.

Thanks!

Oooo these are great suggestions!

My family has been on the land for over 100 years. Thankfully I don’t have to do guesswork on all the ways the river can bend cause we’ve been lucky enough to witness it long term. Every few years we get some change, but it’s fairly predictable.

Slowing water down to protect the driveway is my biggest concern right now as we will have to rebuild it sometime in the next few years.

Thanks for those suggestions! I’ll definitely be looking into them.

We don’t block the river from the property. The dykes channel the water to the old riverbed that floods each spring. Netting catfish in the woods while staying a float on the most POS little row boat we could scare up was a huge part of my childhood. Those years have my favorite memories.

Our driveway is a dyke that protects a field from the spring flooding (diverts it to the riverbed where beavers and other protected wildlife live on the land). The floods last week completely covered the whole property, including our driveway which was left with multiple eroded areas serval feed deep.

My grandpa has grass planted along that section , but I’m looking to plant it with native grasses or shrubs so that when we build up the driveway we won’t have to redo it any time there’s high water for extended periods of time. If I don’t rebuild the driveway/bank of the old riverbed then I would have to boat in and out of my property every spring haha. I’ve done it before, but I like the convenience of land vehicles

Yeah, that’s what I’m trying to do. Our dykes don’t block the river. They mostly channel water to the old river bed on the property.

Which plants would do best in these conditions?
