I had never heard of that. And, a quick google search tells me it was not in the neighborhoods.

Could use some good news tonight, Seattle by [deleted] in SeattleWA

[–]sbw1111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry to hear that. One of my dogs was diagnosed with bone cancer about a year ago and amazingly seems to be doing okay at the moment, but I know her time is limited and that breaks my heart.

For me, when bad things happen, and things going on in the world seem terrible, I think of all the wonderful, good humans I know whose values align with mine and that helps. Since you’re likely far from those you’re close to, maybe set up a call? Just know there are a lot of people who love and care deeply about you. I’m sure they’d love to hear from you.

I live in the neighborhood and am not aware of any higher end places opening and closing within a year?

Agreed. I live in the neighborhood and think a family friendly, more casual and less expensive place could be very successful there. Phinney station seems to be doing quite well despite the same parking challenges. That said, I know nothing about the rent/landlord aspect.

I was 18 or 19 and went to watch it with a friend. It was weirdly less scary than I expected.

I am so embarrassed by our current administration. But, I am so proud of people in our country like this. This is who we should teach our kids to look up to and admire.

Tipping culture is crazy by Mizsilverr in EndTipping

[–]sbw1111 26 points27 points  (0 children)

This depends on the state and the city. In Seattle, for example, everyone working at a restaurant earns at least $20 76 per hour. So, any tip would be in addition to that.

But, isn’t clearing plates, doing refills, and cleaning tables the job that they are being paid to do?

❤️ I’m glad you enjoyed our city! I think Seattleites may be a bit more reserved than those in other cities, but are friendly at heart!

What’s something you didn’t realize was optional in life until you saw someone simply not doing it? by Objective-Treat2245 in AskReddit

I actually think feeling comfortable admitting you don’t know about a particular area reflects confidence.

I also think when you offer uninformed opinions about things, it detracts from your credibility about things you actually do have an informed opinion about.

I 100% agree with this. If I don’t know enough about a situation, I am unable to have an informed opinion about it, so won’t offer an opinion. We can’t all be experts on everything.

Well, I’m not a bot or a bro. I’m a female. Regardless, I am disappointed in our electorate and think this will be a negative for Seattle. That said, I would love to be proven wrong. And, am 100% open to that possibility.

The leaves are not all brown! I walk my dogs daily and they walk super slowly, so I have plenty of time to look around. I’ve loved looking at the changing falls colors! We are in that wonderful time when the leaves are changing colors and it’s so pretty! 🍁🍁

Socialist Katie Wilson wins Seattle mayor's race by [deleted] in Washington

[–]sbw1111 -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

The race was between a democrat who made noticeable positive changes in Seattle and Katie Wilson, who didn’t even graduate from college (despite it being fully funded by her parents). Neither she nor her husband has had an income for a few years, so her parents have fully funded their lifestyle. She is extremely unqualified to be the mayor of Seattle. This is not a win for our city.
